BUTWAL:

Minister for Industry Mahesh Basnet has said that the non-operational industries will be scrapped.

Minister Basnet said two international industries related to mines are on the process of nullification as these were non-operational since long.

Addressing the 35th annual general meeting of the Rupandehi Industry Association, Butwal today, Minister Basnet said he is committed to solving the problems of industrialists.

He further said that the energy-related companies which have been permitted should start their works soon as the country has adequate possibilities in industrial development and the government is creating appropriate environment for the purpose.

Energy crisis is the first problem of industrial development and to end this problem, the government has done power trade agreement (PTA) and it would help solving the energy crisis in the future, he hoped.

The trade deficit could be lessened through industrial development and it could replace the import by exporting the domestic products, Minister Basnet argued.

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry of Industry Uttar Kumar Bhattarai presented the statistics that the country faced the trade deficit by 32.1 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) and the government is implementing a domestic production promoting strategy to reduce the trade deficit.
