NIC ASIA Bank partners with China’s UnionPay International to launch NICASIA-UnionPay Virtual Cards in Nepal

Chief Executive Officer of NIC ASIA Bank Ltd., Mr. Roshan Kumar Neupane and Chairman of UnionPay International Co. Ltd. – Mr. Cai Jianbo have announced the launch of NICASIA UnionPay Virtual Card in the Nepali market.

Targeting its customers visiting China for business or leisure, the bank has launched these cards. It is reported that NIC ASIA UnionPay Cardholders can easily withdraw cash with these Cards while can also be used for shopping, payments at hotels, restaurants etc in Nepal, China.

According to the statistics of Nepal Tourism Board, 153,633 Chinese tourists visited Nepal in 2018. Meanwhile, 300,000 Chinese tourists are expected to visit Nepal during Visit Nepal Year 2020. Therefore,, the bank also expects to aid in the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign of Nepal Government by offering a strong payment option for Chinese tourists inside Nepal, as per the media statement.

UnionPay International Co., Ltd. which was established in 2012 at Shanghai, China and has been offering its services in 177 countries all around the world.

The bank currently has 310 branches, 382 ATM terminals, 84 extension counters, 42 branchless banking units  and around 18 lakh client base spread across the nation.
