New taxis replace old ones at Kathmandu airport

KATHMANDU:

Around 150 new taxis have finally replaced all old ones at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

Chairman of the Airport Air Passenger Transportation Service Management Purosottam Simkhada said that the company has already replaced old taxis with 150 new ones and they have started operation from the country’s only international airport.

“We are in the process of getting additional 20-25 brand new vehicles which will be used as airport taxis from next month,” he said.

He also said the company was in the process of upgrading the licence plates of taxis. At present, only 42 of 150 taxis have green licence plates.

According to an agreement signed between the company and the TIA office, the company will also manage the taxi parking area.

TIA will receive around Rs 21.5 million per year from the company.
