New Heights in New Year; NEPSE At All-Time High on First Trading Day

After a highly volatile trading session, the NEPSE index closed at 2,735.46 today. This is 20.67 points higher than the all-time high created on the last trading day of the year 2077. Thus, the index has created yet another all-time high on the first trading day of the year 2078.
The index opened at 2,735.40 and shortly created the intraday-low at 2,732.41. Although the index went as high as 2,755, it ultimately fell from the intraday high and closed at 2,735.46. Note that this is still 20.67 points higher than the last day's closing.

19,020,528 shares traded hands via 95,737 transactions. The trading of 218 scrips brought the total market turnover to a little over Rs. 8.63 Arba.
While the float index gained 1.5 points and closed at 189.38, the Sensitive index is at 492.44 after gaining 6.17 points.
NIC Asia Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (NICLBSL) has the highest individual scrip turnover of a little over Rs. 49.89 crores. The shares of National Hydro Power Company Limited (NHPC) traded the most.

The top eight highest gainers have technically hit the 10% positive circuit today. Meanwhile, Multipurpose Finance Company Limited (MPFL) lost the most 3.67% today.


Only the Trading and Hydropower sectors have lost today, with Trading losing the most 2.53%. Among all other sectors that gained, Development Bank has gained the most 3.12%.
