Nepse Wrap up (Review period 9th Feb to 13th Feb, 2014)

Fuelled by the formation of the Congress led government, the market this week witnessed a surge of 17.32 points or 2.20 percent. With a double digit increment, the market breached the 800 level to close at 803.1 levels.
Buoyed by the agreement between the two largest political parties in the country – the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML – to form a government under the leadership of NC President Sushil Koirala, the market experienced numerous circuit breakers on 4th Feb. On this day, the market propelled by 19.13 points or 2.44 percent.
On the following day, however, the market observed a downfall of 6.58 points or 0.82 percent as the CPN-UML withdrew their support to the NC government over the home ministry portfolio issue.
With the haggle between these two largest elected parties over power, the investors were found taking cautious approach later on the trading days. In spite of mix up in market confidence, most of the scrips landed on a higher level than prior week’s closing level.
Among, the 149 traded scrips, 96 scrips gained, 10 remained intact and 43 scrips lost.
Attributed by such factor, apart form the decline of 0.07 point in Manufacturing, all other remaining sub-indices settled on higher ground this week. The highest gainer was Hotels as it propelled by a massive 308 points, followed by the Insurance with similarly triple digit surge of 204.27 points.
Hydro was another sector with a huge incline of 86.38 levels. Among three BFIs sub-indices, Banking added 2.81 points to its tally, Development increased by 7.05 points and Finance advanced by 13.33 points.
As for Others, it made a growth of 1.18 points and Trading soarby 5.41 points.
In case of, Sensitive index, which measures the movement of blue chip companies, it inclined by 2.72 points to settle at 175.63 level. Likewise, Float index, which measures the movement of ordinary shares only, also increased by 1.21 points to settle at 53.7 level.
The best performer this week among the traded scrips was Pokhara Finance Ltd. (PFL), closed at Rs 198, with a gain of Rs 55 or 38.46 percent. Whereas, International Development Bank Ltd. (INDBL), closed at Rs 126, was the worst performer among all with a decline of Rs 14 or 10 percent.
The scrip with the highest turnover was Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), closed at Rs 389 following its 1:1 right share book closure adjustment, with 251,589 units worth Rs 168,817,790 which was carried out by 789 transactions.
The Broker with the highest transaction of AHPC was Broker No 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) with 17.38 percent standalone dealing, totaling 88,562 units worth Rs 58,692,392 via 291transactions, which includes 13 matching transactions, tallying 6,250 units worth Rs 4,208,700.
The total turnover of the market for this week stood at Rs 1,605,664,704, totaling 5,245,595 share units which were traded through 13,447 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the week tallied at 817,831.16 Millions.
