Nepse Wrap up (Review period 9/09/2012-14/09/2012)

After ups and downs between 412 to 390 level for more than one month, this week Nepal Stock Exchange rocketed up to set a 120 day’s high at 418.08 level. With the start of week’s opening session , the benchmark index didn’t shown any sign of rally as the index suffered loss of 0.55 points followed by 0.26 loss on following day. But on the third day, the proposal of 40% cash dividend & 20% bonus share by Nabil Bank limited set a favorable environment among investor regarding ‘A’ class companies. As the turnover amount in Nepse boosted up in the following days.
In the previous weeks, the daily turnover use to be around Rs 50 million but after the proposal from SCB and Nabil this week the amount has climbed up to Rs 70 million on an average. Though the political condition hasn’t improved as expected, the news of launch of Siddhartha Capital mutual fund scheme before Dashain and satisfactory dividend proposal from the big banks have set a positive vive in the investor’s mind for the upcoming days in the market.
In overall, Nepse added 9.64 or 2.36% points compare to previous week closing. Among the sectoral sub-indices that aided the market index most was Insurance sector as it surged by 10.24%.Under this, the hefty incline in Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. which is the top gainer this week, and Life Insurance Co. Nepal by Rs 237 and Rs 181 mainly help in its surge. Similarly Banking sector also gave a hand in the uplift as the sector increased by 2.43%, the raise was mainly facilitated by the gain in investors ‘confidence in ‘A’ class Banks. Among banking scrips, that added the most was Global IME as it increased immensely by Rs 155 this week.
Among other Banking and Financial Institutions sector, Finance and Development also added 1.70% and 0.09% points respectively. Though the lost in First Microfinance Development Bank Ltd. and Nerude Laghubita Bikas Bank Limited drag the Development sector down , the improvement in Swabalamwan Bikash Bank and Excel Development Bank Ltd. help to maintain the sector in green area. Similarly in Finance sector, the drastic progress in the scrip of Citizen Investment Trust by Rs 144 aided in this sector growth.
In Hotels sector, Soaltee Hotel Ltd. boost by Rs 19 help the sector to add 4.79%. Likewise, increase in NTC by Rs 20 assisted in Other sector raise of 3.48%. Whereas after a long gap, the scrip of Salt Trading Corporation traded this week but it lost Rs 59 to close at Rs 202 making it the top loser for this week. It was only because of increase in Bishal Bazar Co. Ltd. by Rs 68 that help in the Trading sector incline by 4.03%.
The decliners in the sub-indices were Manufacturing and Hydro sector with 0.32% and 0.23% loss respectively.Though the scrip of Chilime is highly attractive among the investor, it was able to add only Rs 1 in its balance which was outweighed by Butwal and Arun valley loss of Rs 5 and Rs 6 respectively in the hydro sector. Whereas in Manufacturing, the lost in the Uniliver Nepal Ltd by Rs 50 along with other 2 scrips drag the sub-indices down this week. Among other sub-indices, Sensitive index added 2.57 or 2.44% to settle at 107.82 level while Float index also gained 0.75 or 2.44% points to settle at 31.46 level .
In case of highest transaction, Hama Merchant & Finance Ltd. (HAMA), closed at 70, had the highest transaction with 1,057 times. Whereas in the category of highest share traded Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBBL), closed at Rs 151, topped with 134,240 units.
In terms of turnover, Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL), closed at Rs 1100, had the highest turnover with 45,438 units worth Rs. 49,837,924; in which Broker No 33 (Dachinkali Investment Securities Pvt.Ltd ) was most active broker with 41.61% stand alone dealing of CHCL, totaling 18,904 units worth Rs 20,736,602 via 67 transactions which includes 2 matching transaction of 258 units worth Rs 281,984.
Total scrips traded for the week were 129 with 63 gainers, 12 intact and 54 Losers .Overall week’s turnover was of Rs 369,970,020 which is comparatively Rs 37,751,956 or 10.20% higher than prior week. Overall 1,171,033 units of shares were traded via 7,798 transactions. The total market capitalization at the end of review period was Rs 396,404.36 millions which is higher by Rs 9,893.82 millions compare to previous week’s closing.
