Nepse Wrap up (Review period 5th Jan to 9th Jan, 2014)

Recovering its loss, the stock index this week bounce back by 9 points to close at 772.76 levels.

Capitalizing on the previous week downfall of the price of the listed companies, the investors this week opted to accumulate these shares, attributing to improved performance of the stock index.

It was only in the last three trading days that the market observed a surge in the demand of the listed scrips, prior to it the secondary market continued its correction in initial two trading two days.

This week, the investors, mostly gathered the scrips of Insurance sector, which contributed in the 95.91 points growth of sub-indices. Other sub-indices that observed double digit incline was Hydro and Development i.e. gains of 12.60 and 11.84 points respectively.

Similarly, Banking sector, which is the heavy weight of the market, propelled by 6.89 points as a rise in the demand of banking scrips were observed in the market this week. Following banking, Others  and Finance also made increment of 3.53 and 3.15 points respectively.

Meanwhile, Hotels made the highest plunge as it suffered a loss of 28.88 points. Besides it, Trading and Manufacturing sectors also tumbled by 3.04 and 5.60 points respectively.

In case of, Sensitive index, which measures the movement of blue chip companies, it inclined by 1.25 points to settle at 172.2 levels.  Likewise, Float index, which measures the movement of ordinary shares only, also advance by 0.76 points to settle at 51.84 levels.

All in all, the 130 scrips were traded this week, out of which 69 scrips gained, 12 remained intact and 49 scrips lost.

The best performer this week among the traded scrips was Taragaon Regency Hotel (TRH), closed at Rs 219, with a gain of Rs 74 or 51.03 percent. Whereas, Nilgiri Bikas Bank Limited (NGBL), closed at Rs 156, was the worst performer among all with a decline of Rs 25 or 13.81 percent.

The scrip with the highest turnover was Citizens Bank International Limited Promoter Share (CZBILP), closed at 133, with 10,877 units worth Rs 158,339,825 which was carried out by 2 transactions.

Among the ordinary shares, Kumari Bank Ltd (KBL), closed at Rs 521, had the highest turnover worth Rs 125,570,897, totaling 243,289 units which traded through 457 transactions.

The  Broker with the highest transaction of KBL was Broker no 25 (Sweta Securities Pvt. Limited) with 28.25% standalone dealing of the KBL, tallying 138,078 units worth Rs 70,958,568 via 198 transactions which includes 33 matching transactions worth Rs 18,003,700, totaling 35,200 units of share.

The total turnover of the market for this week stood at Rs 1,644,045,752 totaling 3,553,872 share units which were traded through 11,776 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the week tallied at 785,061.65
