Nepse Wrap up (Review period 31st March to 3rd April, 2014)

Attributed by the positive sentiment in the market, the benchmark index during the review period surged by 17.43 points. With the incline, the Nepse index came to sustain over 800 level as the local bourse settled at 800.58 points.
Buoyed by the last week’s improvement in the market index, the investors’ confidence, which was on down side after days of sluggish transition, came to witness a staggering change.
Following the prior week’s surge of 7.82 points, the buying sentiment once again gained momentum in the market. Out of the four trading days, the Nepse index experienced soar in three days, which has hardly occurred during the past month or so.
As the market picked up its pace last week, more and more traders and buyers were found accumulating shares this week in expectation of bullish movement in future days.
Once the third quarter will end, more liquidation in market will observe as the financial institutions will again start to flow the margin lending loan which currently is on halt status because of the quarter end pressure.
Moreover, most of the buyers this week were found attracted towards hydro and insurance scrips. Insurance sector observed a growth of astounding 143.44 points and Hydro witnessed near to similarly rally of 92.48 points.
Following above sectors, Hotels also increased by 27.32 points; alongside it banking and financial institutions sub-indices also experienced better week this week as Development sector added 12.18 points, Finance advanced by 9.46 points and Banking incremented by 12.11 points.
As for Others, it sustain gain of 2.35 points and Manufacturing soar by 2.33 points.
In case of, Sensitive index, which measures the movement of blue chip companies, it inclined by 3.65 points to settle at 172.74 level. While, Float index, which measures the movement of ordinary shares only, also increased by 1.08 point to settle at 53.93 level.
Altogether, there were 152 traded scrips, among which 100 scrips gained, 12 remained intact and 40 scrips lost.
The best performer this week among the ordinary traded scrips was Swarojgar Laghu Bitta Bikas Bank Ltd. (SWBBL), closed at Rs 1255, with a gain of Rs 270 or 24.41 percent. Whereas, Metro Development Bank Limited (METRO), closed at Rs 274, was the worst performer among all with a decline of Rs 56 or 16.97 percent.
The scrip with the highest turnover was Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL), closed at Rs 1880, with 161,111 units worth Rs 300,564,693 which was carried out by 1,002 transactions.
The total turnover of the market for this week stood at Rs 1,548,901,336, totaling 3,235,871 share units which were traded through 9,518 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the week tallied at 816121.04 Millions.
