Nepse Wrap up (Review period 27th January, 2013 to 31st January, 2013)

The prolonged political tension in the country this week also discouraged the investors resulting in the decline of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). Following the previous week decline of 2.88 points, the market index started the week’s trade with the climb of 0.18 points. However, in the remaining days the benchmark index had a tumbling session one after another, bringing the local bourse down by 3.61 points. As compared to the previous week’s plunge of 6.60 points, this week the Nepse index came down by only meager 3.43 points to close at 510.88 levels.
Altogether there were trade of nine sectors this week among which Insurance, Hotels and Trading soar by 5.49, 0.72 and 2.96 points respectively. Following the rise in the price of Bishal Bazaar Co. Ltd. (BBC) by Rs 35, the Trading sector was able to make the growth. Similarly, jump in the value of Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL) and Taragaon Regency Hotel (TRH) by Rs 7 and Rs 11 contributed in the Hotels sector surge.
Whereas, the loss suffered in the scrip of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited pushed the Others sector further south by 1.18 points. Likewise, plunge in the Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 4 and Rs 18 dragged the Hydro sector by 11.39 points. While, drop in the level of Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) by Rs 196 also pushed the sector down by 10.17 points.
As for, Banking, Development and Finance sectors all decreased by 3.49, 24.70 and 5.41 points respectively. The double digit descent in the scrips of Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), Agricultural Development Bank Ltd (ADBL), Lumbini Bank Ltd. (LBL), Citizens Bank International Limited (CZBIL) and Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB) mainly brought the sector down.
Similarly, fall in Excel Development Bank Ltd. (EDBL), Chhimek Laghubitta Bikas Bank Limited (CBBL), Nerude Laghubita Bikas Bank Limited (NLBBL), Metro Development Bank Limited (METRO) along with another 31 scrips contributed to the sector’s loss.
Among other sub-indices, Sensitive index decreased by 1.03 or 0.77% to settle at 133.52 levels while Float index also dropped by 0.25 or 0.71% points to settle at 34.83 levels.
In overall week transaction, Innovative Development Bank Ltd. (Innovative), closed at Rs 125, was the Top Gainer with Rs 25 or 25%. On the other side, Excel Development Bank Ltd. (EDBL), closed at Rs 273, was the Top Loser with Rs 82 or 23.10%; the scrip following the price adjustment of 25% bonus share by Nepse had the highest decline this week. In terms of highest transaction, Global IME Bank Limited (Global IME), closed at Rs 405, topped with 207 transactions.
In case of highest turnover, Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL), closed at 1065, topped with 126 transactions totaling 27,120 units worth Rs 28,942,956; in which Broker No 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the active broker with 48.59% stand alone dealing of CHCL, tallying 13,300units worth Rs 14,063,760 via 32 transactions which include 9 matching transactions totaling 10,080 units worth Rs 10,599,890.
Total scrips traded for the week were 119 with 23 gainers, 11 intact and 85 Losers .Overall week’s turnover was of Rs 321,091,817 with average of Rs 80,272,954 which is higher by Rs 10,760,900 or 15.48% higher than previous trading week’s average. Overall 1,091,842 units of shares were traded via 4,442 transactions. The total market capitalization at the end of the review period was Rs 492,089 million which is lower by Rs 3,383.90 million compare to previous trading week’s closing.
