Nepse Wrap up (Review period 23rd March to 27th March, 2014)

With the fade of the share offloading pressure in the market, the benchmark index came to witness 7.82 points gain this week. By the end of the week, the local bourse came to settle at 783.15 level.
It may be noted that the benchmark index on weekly basis for the past three weeks had been suffering loss. In total, the Nepse index had experience more than 76 points plunge in three weeks’ time. In duration of four weeks or one month, this is the first time the market index has settled higher than prior week’s closing.
With the nearing of the quarter end, the offloading of shares is fading out. Most of the investors and traders to meet their debt obligation liquidate their position almost twenty or more days prior to quarter end which attributes to decline in the market like that of prior weeks.
However, once the investors and traders have liquidated enough position to meet their debt obligation, the market tends to gradually increase as the previous seller tends to shift their position to buying.
Prevailed by such factor, the local bourse this week landed in green zone for three trading days out of five which in prior weeks’ used to be one trading day or so, if one month data is to go by.
Like that of previous week sentiment, most of the buying position was observed in insurance and hydro scrips as both sub-indices made hefty incline of 74.67 points and 78.25 points respectively.
Similarly, Hotels sector, which is one of smallest sector of Nepse, also made an impressive rally of 102.65 points. Likewise, Trading and Manufacturing sub-indices, whose scrips are rarely traded in market, experienced slight incline of 3.12 points and 0.29 point respectively.
While, Others, which is one of the influential sector in Nepse movement, sustained a growth of 4.71 points. As for banking and financial institutions sub-indices, Development increased by 6.54 points, Finance surged by 4.26 points but Banking remained intact at 712.69 level.
In case of, Sensitive index, which measures the movement of blue chip companies, it inclined by 1.29 points to settle at 169.09 level. While, Float index, which measures the movement of ordinary shares only, also increased by 0.39 point to settle at 52.85 level.
Altogether, there were 160 traded scrips, among which 92 scrips gained, 19 remained intact and 49 scrips lost.
The best performer this week among the ordinary traded scrips was Naya Nepal Laghubitta Bikas Bank Limited (NNLB), closed at Rs 495, with a gain of Rs 129 or 35.24 percent. Whereas, Shree Investment Finance Co. Ltd (SIFC), closed at Rs 419, was the worst performer among all with a decline of Rs 79 or 15.86 percent.
The scrip with the highest turnover was Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC), closed at Rs 4800, with 41,845 units worth Rs 193,739,079 which was carried out by 120 transactions.
The Broker with the highest transaction of NLIC was Broker No 28 (Shree Krishna Securities Limited) with 73.48 percent standalone dealing, totaling 61,603 units worth Rs 284,726,215 via 56 transactions, which include 25 matching transactions, tallying 30,694 units worth Rs 141,866,570.
The total turnover of the market for this week stood at Rs 1,382,887,915, totaling 3,083,986 share units which were traded through 10,931 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the week tallied at 798,249.40 Millions.
