Nepse Wrap up (Review period 23rd Feb to 26th Feb, 2014)

Owing to the latest political development in the country, the secondary market overcame the selling pressure to sustain in green terrain this week. The market index added 3.03 points by the end of this week, to close at 825.7 level.
With the Prime Minister Sushil Koirala showing flexibility in his stand, regarding allocating Home Ministry Portfolio to CPN-UML, the benchmark index rallied further nine points on the first day of trade, bringing the total bull run of NEPSE to 30 points in four trading days.
However, on the following day the market came to witness correction as investors opted to book their profit in insurance shares. On the second trading day of the week, the insurance sector experienced triple digit plunge of 103.33 points.
Though the local bourse on third trading day also came to experience heavy down fall in initial phase, the appointment news of Dr Ram Sharan Mahat as Finance Minister propelled the market, narrowing its loss to meagre 0.45 points from double digit figure.
Coming to last trading day of this week, the profit taking in most of the banking, insurance and hydro scrips dragged the market to red terrain.
This week most of the profit booking was observed in insurance sectors which attributed to 117.39 points plunge in the sector. Similarly, Others and Finance were other two sub-indices to suffer loss this week- Others decreased by 5.88 points and Finance declined by 12.03 points.
Meanwhile, Hydro sector despite the selling pressure was able to add 89.93 points further to its tally. Likewise, Banking, Development and Hotels sectors too were able to surge this week. Hotels soared by 9.15 points, Development inclined by 1.76 points and Banking advanced by 2.98 points.
In case of, Sensitive index, which measures the movement of blue chip companies, it inclined by 1.54 points to settle at 180.18 level. While, Float index, which measures the movement of ordinary shares only, decreased by 0.25 points to settle at 54.94 level.
Altogether, there were 149 traded scrips, among which 67 scrips gained, 9 remained intact and 73 scrips lost.
The best performer this week among the traded scrips was Kabeli Bikas Bank Limited (KEBL), closed at Rs 354, with a gain of Rs 76 or 27.33 percent. Whereas, Prudential Finance Company Limited (PFIL), closed at Rs 122, was the worst performer among all with a decline of Rs 18 or 12.85 percent.
The scrip with the highest turnover was Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL), closed at Rs 1760, with 98,937 units worth Rs 171,919,055 which was carried out by 675 transactions.
The Broker with the highest transaction of CHCL was Broker No 14 (Nepal Stock House Pvt. Limited) with 10.84 percent standalone dealing, totaling 21,776 units worth Rs 37,274,201 via 99 transactions, which includes seven matching transactions, tallying 2,268 units worth Rs 3,926,100.
The total turnover of the market for this week stood at Rs 1,482,479,540, totaling 3,595,473 share units which were traded through 10,947 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the week tallied at 840,985.10 Millions.
