Nepse Wrap up (Review period 20th Oct to 24th Oct, 2013)

Making a roller coaster ride, the stock market of Nepal came to advance by 7.81 points by the end of this week.
Opening its week’s trading with a hefty 12.27 points surge followed by 3.85 points gain on the next day , propelled the NEPSE index to height of 587.92 levels which was near to four years high. Last time, the market reached such a position was in the month of November, 2009.
However, much to investors’ dismay, the consecutive bull rally that started from 23rd September came to an end on third day of the trade with a loss of 6.13 points and continued with further plunge of 1.24 and 0.94 points on the next two days.
Despite the continuous decline in the last three consecutive trading days of this week, the benchmark index still stood higher than prior week’s closing level of 571.8. The local bourse settled at level 579.61 levels at the end of the week’s session.
Likewise, all the sub-indices also settled on higher level than the prior week’s closing. Hotels sector had a good run as it made a gigantic leap of 146.01 points. Similarly, Hydro also followed with a gain of 40.02 points alongside 24.20 points incline of Insurance, 25.29 points climb of Development and 27.77 points growth of Manufacturing.
Whereas, Banking, Finance and Others followed with a single digit growth figure of 4.16, 6.08 and 3.53 points respectively.
As for Sensitive index which measures the movement of blue chip companies, inclined by 1.92 points to settle at 139.12 levels. Likewise, Float index, which measures the movement of ordinary shares only, also increased by 0.37 points to settle at 40.47 levels.
All in all, the 124 scrips were traded, out of which 65 scrips gained, 14 remained intact and 45 scrips lost.
The best performer for the week was, Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL), closed at Rs 395, with Rs 85 or 27.42 percent gain. Whereas, Namaste Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (NBSL), closed at Rs 186, was the top loser with Rs 45 or 19.48 percent loss.
The share with the highest turnover this week was of Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), closed at Rs 2160, with 28,334 units worth Rs 60,758,864 which were carried by the 181 transactions.
The broker with the highest transaction of NABIL was Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 28.69% standalone dealing of NABIL, tallying 16,356 units worth Rs 34,863,214 via 59 transactions which includes 18 matching transactions totaling 6,489 units worth Rs 13,778,459.
Altogether, 2,336,360 units of shares were traded by 7,691 transactions worth Rs 720,620,038. The market capitalization at the end of the week stood at Rs 548,579.45 Millions.
