Nepse Wrap up (Review period 18th Aug to 20th Aug, 2013)

Underpinned by the ongoing dialogues among the government, HLPC and 33 party alliance, the secondary market this week boosted up by 11.94 points to close at five months high of 548.32 levels.
Most of the investors, who were diffident in the prior weeks, came out with strong confidence after the news of Mohan Baidya led CPN-Maoist along with its counterparts likely to participate in the upcoming November election, in the start of the week.
Though the conclave between government and the 33 party alliance resulted inconclusive in later days, the consecutive two day rally came to set a favourable market environment for the subsequent trading days.
Along with the healthy rally, the market participation was also impressive. The total turnover stood at Rs 634.58 million with 45.83% increment in the daily average, tallying Rs 211.52 million compared to Rs 145.05 million average of the prior week.
Likewise, the amount of share traded rose to 2,709,302 units which were carried out by 6,075 transactions; the market capitalization came to close at Rs 546,703.59 million by the end of the week.
All in all, 127 scrips traded this week, 86 scrips gained, 16 remained intact and 25 scrips lost.
As for the Sensitive index, which measures the movement of blue chip companies, inclined by 3.24 points to settle at 136.42 levels. Likewise, Float index, which measures the movement of ordinary shares only, also increased by 0.85 points to settle at 35.8 levels.
Among the sub-indices, only Manufacturing suffered the loss of 2.70 points while the rest had a good run this week. Insurance was the big performer this week with a surge of 44.20 points followed by Hotels with 25.63 points.
Similarly, Others sector also made a hefty climb of 17.62 points alongside 12.20 points leap of Banking sector and 8.44 point jump of Hydro. Likewise, Finance gained 0.92 points and Development rose by 5.91 points.
The highest gainer among the scrips traded this week was Lumbini General Insurance (LGI) that closed at Rs 238, gaining of Rs 58 or 32.22%.
Whereas, Shine Resunga Development Bank Ltd (SHINE), closed at Rs 258, was the highest loser with Rs 39, or 13.13%, loss.
In terms of the highest shares traded among mutual fund, Nabil Balance Fund 1 (NBF1), closed at Rs 9.95, topped with 265,998 units whereas among the ordinary scrips trading above par, Asian Life Insurance Co. Limited (ALICL), closed at Rs 368, topped with 65,921 units.
In case of highest turnover, Global IME Bank Limited Promoter Share (GBIMEP), closed at Rs 128, topped with 709,006 units worth Rs 90,752,768 via 3 transactions.
Among ordinary shares, National LifeInsu. Co. Ltd. (NLICL), closed at Rs 941, topped with 40,810 units worth Rs 38,759,038 via 124 transactions; in which Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 40.79% standalone dealing of NLICL, tallying 33,580 units worth Rs 31,626,280 via 40 transactions which include 14 matching transactions totaling 15,450 units worth Rs 14,542,400.
