Nepse Wrap up (Review period 16/09/2012-20/09/2012)

This week was a remarkable for Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) as the benchmark index surge to create a record of year high at 425.47 level. With the drastic increase in the level of Nepse within the three days of opening, the investors started to book their profit in the fourth and fifth day of the trade. As a result, the local bourse plummeted down to 420.44 level at the end of this week trade. But in overall, Nepse added 2.36 or 0.56% points compare to previous week closing level.
With the surprise announcement of book closure date to be on 26th September by Chilime Hydro Power Co (CHCL), the investors sentiment drastically changed overnight as the scrip that had buyers over Rs 1200 range came down to close at Rs 1135,narrowing its gain only to Rs 35 at the week’s end. Though drop on its gain, the scrip till maintain to be top in the category of highest turnover for the week. Overall 79,850 units worth Rs 91,099,620 via 578 transactions were done of CHCL; in which Broker No 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited ) was most active broker with 28.25% stand alone dealing of CHCL, totaling 22,448 units worth Rs 25,735,966 via 73 transactions which includes 22 matching transaction of 15,188 units worth Rs 17,521,968.
The incline in CHCL along with BPCL helped the Hydro sector to boost up by 23.31 or 2.87%. Among other sub-indices, Hotels, Finance, Development, Insurance, Others and Trading also jumped than the previous week’s closing level. Hotel added 22.61 or 4.04% as Oriental Hotel Ltd. and Soaltee Hotel Ltd. inclined by Rs 6 and Rs 15 respectively. Similarly in Finance, rise in the price of Janaki Finance Ltd, Citizen Investment Trust and Kaski Finance Limited by Rs 40, Rs 30 and Rs 15 respectively mainly contributed in its growth. Whereas the heavy incline in the level of Rastriya Beema Sansthan by Rs 391 this week aided in Insurance rise. The company proposal to give total of 93% bonus share for three fiscal year i.e. F/Y 2060/061, F/Y 2061/062 and F/Y 2062/063 has made it one of the attractive scrip in the market today.
In Trading, the climb in the price of Bishal Bazar Co. Ltd. by Rs 27 supported in its rise of 2.28 or 1.35%. In same manner, the soar in the price of NTC by Rs 5 helped the Others to grow by 5.87 or 0.84% points. The decliners in the sub-indices were Manufacturing and Banking sector with 32.56 or 4.27% and 0.63 or 0.17% loss respectively. The hefty loss in Manufacturing was mainly due to fall in the price of Uniliver Nepal Ltd. by Rs 631.
Among other sub-indices, Sensitive index rose by 0.23 or 0.21% to settle at 108.05 level while Float index suffered loss of 0.02 or 0.06% to close at 31.44 level.
Overall there were 122 scrips traded among which 74 scrips increased, 12 remain intact and 36 scrips decreased this week. The highest loser for the week was Multipurpose Finance Co. Ltd. (MPFL), closed at Rs 173, with Rs 38 or 18%. Whereas, Nepal Insurance Co. Ltd. (NICL), closed at Rs 323, was the Top Gainer with Rs 71 or 28.17%. In case of highest share traded, KIST Bank Limited (KIST), closed at Rs 116, topped with 344,104 units.
Total turnover for the week was of Rs 461,672,594which is comparatively Rs 91,702,574 or 24.78% higher than prior week. Overall 1,621,921 units of shares were traded via 7,015 transactions. The total market capitalization at the end of review period was Rs 397,873.99millions which is higher by Rs 1,469.63millions compare to previous week’s closing.
