ShareSansar, 20th September

Investors rush to book their profit on the last day of this week's trade push the Nepse index down by 0.84 points below the prior week’s closing.

Driven by positive sentiment aroused from the prior week’s dividend proposal of the big companies, the local bourse climbed uphill in the initial two days. However, the market wearied down by 0.05 points on the third day as the investors took precautions near 552 levels, which seems a strong resistance point as Nepse has made numerous failed attempts to breach this level in recent few weeks.

Coming on the last day of the trade, the Standard Charter Bank proposal of 10 percent bonus share and 40 percent cash dividend put forth a dent in the investors’ expectation which impacted the banking and financial institutions sector.

In addition, the investors rush to book the profit seen in Insurance and Hydro scrips from the prior three day rally, dragged the market further in the bearish path. The market index at the end of the week came to close at 548.98 levels.

Among sub-indices, Insurance was the big performer this week with a surge of 74.48 points followed by Hotels with 28.78 points.

Whereas,  Hydro sector dropped by 19.46 points alongside 4.39 point loss of Development , 3.43 point decline of Banking, 2.35 points slide of Other and  1.52 point fall of Finance sector.

Among other indices, Sensitive index, which measures the movement of blue chip companies, declined by 3.80 points to settle at 132.18 levels. Likewise, Float index, which measures the movement of ordinary shares only, also increased by 0.21 points to settle at 39.02 levels.

All in all, the 134 scrips were traded, out of which 48 scrips gained, 13 remained intact and 73 scrips lost.
