Nepse Wrap up (Review period 15th Dec to 19th Dec, 2013)

Owing to the latest political development in the country, the market this week came to reach the pinnacle of 5 years high.
From the beginning of this week, the market witnessed escalating demand of shares from investors. The market that continued its session from 713.92 levels this week, by the end of the week’s trading made an unprecedented incline of 91.73 points or 12.85 percent to settle at 805.65 levels.
The secondary market of Nepal that used to witness circuit breaker once in a blue moon, this week viewed numerous circuit breakers in both directions. Following the first day of trade, the NEPSE came to halt for back to back trading days because of 5 percent incline. On both days, the market observed less than 45 minutes of trade.
However on the last day of trade, the market suffered circuit breaker on opposite direction as the market declined by 4 percent. Though the investors rush to book their profit dragged the market to witness 15 minutes and 30 minute suspension on the initial period of the last day, later the market made steep bounce back to close with loss of only 0.14 percent.
In the midst of volatile movement, the market observed record breaking turnover on last day’s trade. Breaking its previous single day turnover threshold of Rs 746,007,855, the secondary market’s turnover came to stand at Rs 810,856,158.
In overall, this week's market turnover came to total at Rs 2,092,213,661, totaling 4,968,189 share units which were carried out through 9,793 transactions.
The investors this week too mainly bought commercial banks’ scrips which in progress propelled the Banking sector by 121.49 points. Similarly, Finance also surged by 13.88 points and Development advanced by 24.73 points. Likewise, Hydro sector gained 67.12 points.
Meanwhile, Insurance and Hydro sectors also made a triple digit leap as both indices surged by 121.59 and 169.15 points respectively. As for Other, it also soar a healthy gain as it added 62.25 points to its tally
Similarly, Sensitive index which measures the movement of blue chip companies, inclined by 21.52 points to settle at 182.83 levels. Likewise, Float index, which measures the movement of ordinary shares only, propelled by 4.76 points to settle at 52.99 levels.
All in all, the 130 scrips were traded this week, out of which 111 scrips gained, 7 remained intact and 12 scrips lost.
The best performer this week among the traded scrips was Janata Bank Nepal Ltd. (JBNL), closed at Rs 350, with a gain of Rs 102 or 41.13 percent. Whereas, Nerude Laghubita Bikas Bank Limited (NLBBL), closed at Rs 810, was the worst performer among all with a decline of Rs 410 or 33.61 percent.
The scrip with the highest turnover was Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at 658, with 355,260 units worth Rs 218,154,410 which was carried out by 554 transactions.
