Nepse Wrap up (Review period 11th March, 2013 to 14th March, 2013)

With the agreement of the political parties to amend interim constitution and pave path for the chief justice led government, the market opened with high confidence on Monday which resulted into surge of market more than 3 points within few minutes of trade. But the profit booking by the investors so as to accumulate fund for the Nabil Balanced Fund-I, mutual fund issued by the Nabil Investment Banking Ltd, lowered the market index and limited its gain to 0.38 points in the initial day.

However on the next day, the local bourse was able to surge by 6.50 points as the sentiment of the investors towards the recent political developments was still on the high note. In addition to that the midnight deal reached among four parties to form the CJ lead government within a day or so and on subsequent day, the sworn in by Chief justice Khil Raj Regmi as the Chairperson of Interim Election Council had even further boosted the confidence of the investors.

All these positive development eventually led to more than 15 points increment in the Nepse within the few minutes of trade on Thursday. But, the fear of the missing the opportunity among the big investors because of the circuit breaker eventually led to profit booking which gradually declined the market index and limited its gain to 2.26 points only. In compare to previous week’s closing the market index is higher by 9.14 points; the local bourse at the end of the trade closed at 548.4 levels.

The turnover in the market this week was also in high figures as it stood around Rs 532.53 million. Though the market had only three days of trade this week, all the traded days had turnover over Rs 100 million mark. On Wednesday, it had turnover worth more than Rs 230 million, this is the second time the market reached this level within the time frame of one month. On an average, the market had daily turnover of Rs 177.51 million which is higher by Rs 42.97 million or 24.20%. Likewise, the numbers of shares traded also in the high volume this week as it stood around 2.32 million which were carried out by 5,337 transactions.

Among the sub-indices, Insurance sector soar by the most points as it climbed by 20.62 points following the gain in the scrip of Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC), Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LIC), Siddhartha Insurance Limited (SIL) and Lumbini General Insurance (LGI) by more than Rs 20. Likewise, Hydro also ascended by 9.47 points which was mainly complemented by the jump in the price of Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) of Rs 12.

Similarly, Others and Banking increased by 11.55 and 10.57 points respectively. In Banking this week, Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), Himalayan Bank Ltd.  (HBL), Global IME Bank Limited (GIME) and Nabil Bank Ltd Promoter Share (NABILPO) made jump of more than Rs 30.While, Hotels, Development and Finance also incremented by 1.13, 3.52 and 1.84 points respectively. As for Trading, it plummeted by 2.53 points.

Overall there were only 102 scrips traded among which 60 scrips increased 18 remained intact and 24 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the week was, Vibor Bikas Bank Limited (VBBL), closed at Rs 128, with Rs 30 or 30.61% gain. Whereas, Everest Insurance Co. Ltd. (EIC), closed at Rs 348, was the highest loser with Rs 35 or 9.13%.

In terms of highest transaction, Civil Bank Ltd (CBL), closed at Rs 170, topped 658 transactions. In case of shares traded and turnover, KIST Bank Limited (KIST), closed at Rs 158, topped the chart with 999,975 units worth Rs 153,675,585 via 653 transactions; in which Broker no 43 (South Asian Bulls Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 53.11% stand alone dealing of KIST, tallying 536,005 units worth Rs 81,624,680 via 59 transactions which includes 5 matching transaction totaling 501,115 units worth Rs 76,172,680.
