Nepse wrap up as of 8th –12th July 2012

The news of implementation of margin lending within a few more days created a positive buzz in the market as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) went bullish for three consecutive days from the beginning of the week’s session. The benchmark index saw a 25 days highest level of 385.3 on Tuesday. But the news of bringing only one third of the budget on the following day dragged the Nepse down. The sentiment of the investors with this news seems to be down as the Nepse index which mostly closes at higher note on the closing day ended in bearish note. In overall, Nepse added 6.10 or 1.62% points compared to previous week’s closing level of 377.38 level.
This week Nepal Stock Exchange has listed Ordinary share of Summit Micro Finance Development Bank Limited of 250,000 units and 528,544 bonus share of Infrastructure Development Bank.
In this week’s trading session, H & B Development Bank Ltd. (HBDL), closed at Rs 116, was the Top Gainer with Rs 20 or 20.83%. Likewise there are other companies like BPCL, NCCB, etc. which share price have increased enormously this week though there were seller pressure at lower levels itself. This shows that most of the companies which have shown growth in their value are not real but interpreted just to facilitate their margin lending facility with different banks and financial institutions.
On the other side, Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL), closed at Rs 79, was the Top Loser with Rs 7 or 8.14%.Whereas among the scrips trading above par value, Ace Development Bank Limited (ACEDBL), closed at Rs 113, was the Top Loser with Rs 9 or 7.38%. Similarly, Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL), closed at Rs 873, had the highest transaction of 407 times for the week. Likewise, with 151,500 units National Hydro Power Co. (NHPC), closed at Rs 50, had the highest share traded. All in all, with 77,243units worth Rs. 75,382,066 via 225transactions Everest Bank Limited (EBL), closed at Rs 981, was the top performer in terms of highest turnover in overall week’s session; in which Broker No 17 (ABC Securities Pvt. Limited) was most active broker with 55.35% stand alone dealing of EBL, amounting Rs 41,731,340 via 28 transactions of 42,689 units which includes matching of 40,268 units worth Rs 39,372,657 via 4 transactions.
Except Development sector loss of 0.92 or 0.37% to settle at 245.52 level, all other remaining sub-indices rose as compared to prior week’s closing level. With 33.60 or 5.33% points climb, Hydro was the top gainer which settled at 663.67 level. Similarly, other major gainers for this week were Others sector followed by Insurance, Banking, Hotels and Finance sub-indices with 3.16%, 1.59%, 1.31%, 0.35% and 0.09% points respectively. All in all, Sensitive index gained by 1.62 or 1.67% to settle at 98.62 level while Float index gained by 6.32 or 21.11% points than preceding week’s final level of 29.34.
Total scrips traded for the week were 112 with turnover of Rs 317,620,350 which is comparatively Rs 12,493,766 or 4.10% higher than prior week. The highest turnover was on Thursday with Rs 130,631,082 and lowest on Monday with Rs 41,349,172. Overall 897,930 units of shares were traded via 5332 transactions. The total market capitalization at the end of review period was Rs 362,344.11 millions which is higher by Rs 5752.58 millions compare to previous week’s closing.
