Nepse wrap up as of 29th -2nd August, 2012

In the opening day of trading, Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) closed at 396.02 level with loss of 5.52 points despite the news of margin lending against stock purchase receipt implementation. However, in the following day Nepse climbed up by 4.57 points to rebound above 400 level and started to move in sideways direction between the range of 399 and 402 level for next two consecutive days. At the end of the review period, the benchmark index closed with the highest level of 402.19 for the week which is 0.65 or 0.16% higher than prior week’s closing.
Due to Janai Purnima on thursday NEPSE trading floor was open for four days. In this week’s trading session, Mahakali Bikas Bank Limited (MBBL), closed at Rs 109, was the Top Gainer with Rs 13 or 13.54%. On the other side, Nepal Aawas Finance Limited (NABB), closed at Rs 129, was the Top Loser with Rs 46 or 26.29%. While the transaction of NB Insurance Co. Ltd. (NBIL), closed at Rs 115 on 31st July, has been suspended by SEBON for the inquiry purpose regarding the embezzlement of the general people’s insurance premium fund.
This week also KIST Bank Limited (KIST), closed at Rs 115, with 139,180 units had the highest share traded. All in all, with 35,376 units worth Rs. 34,574,536 via 365 transactions Chilime Hydro Power Co. Ltd (CHCL), closed at Rs 997, was the top performer in terms of highest turnover and transaction in overall week’s session; in which Broker No 33 (Dachinkali Investment Securities Pvt. Ltd) was most active broker with 17.66% stand alone dealing of CHCL, amounting Rs 6,106,066 via 33 transactions of 6,270 units which includes matching of 2,588 units worth Rs 2,505,126.
In sub-indices Hotel sector gained the most, it moved up by 10.47 or 2.14% than preceding week’s closing. Similarly, Insurance , Others and Hydro also climbed up by 1.87%,0.96% and 0.82% points respectively. On the other hand, Banking , Development and Finance sectors declined by 0.13%, 0.71% and 0.84% points respectively. likewise, Sensitive index gained 0.13 or 0.13% to settle at 103.89 level while Float index decreased 0.01 or 0.03% points than preceding week’s final level of 31.23.
Total scrips traded for the week were 110 with 38 gainers and 60 Losers .Overall week’s turnover was of Rs 208,073,178 which is astoundingly Rs 252,628,091 or 54.84% lower than prior week. The average turnover for this week was around Rs 52 million which is also lower than previous week’s average of Rs 92 million. Overall 690,510 units of shares were traded via 5,361 transactions. The total market capitalization at the end of review period was Rs 380,048.30 millions which is higher by Rs 621.75 millions compare to previous week’s closing.
