Nepse wrap up as of 22th –26th July 2012

The news of Mutual Fund guidelines being passed and Nabil Investment Banking Ltd. in process to introduce Rs 500 million worth of schemes within two months of time, help to boost the investor’s confidence in the opening day of the market as Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) cross 400 level to settle at 404.73 level. On the following days, Nepse tried to cross the resistance level of 413 but couldn’t sustain as the profit booking in the market pushed the benchmark index down.
As the market is in correction phase and the announcement of Monetary Policy for the fiscal year 2069/70 on Wednesday failed to create a positive impact in Nepse. The investors and business communities hopes of lower rate was dampened because of the increase in Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) for the Banking and Financial institutions which further pushed the benchmark index down to lowest closing level for the week at 401.54 points.
From this week onwards Api Finance Limited (AFL), Rara Bikash Bank Limited (RARA) and Royal Merchant Banking and Finance Limited (RMBFI) share transaction have been suspended as three companies are going for merger process with each other. The last traded price of AFL, RARA and RMBFI were Rs 107, Rs 82 and Rs 110 respectively. Similarly Kasthamandap Development Bank Ltd. (KDBL) which merged with Shikhar Finance Limited, stock transactions was resumed. The Scrip traded between the range of Rs 101-93 to close at Rs 101 for this week. Likewise, the transaction of National Hydro Power Co. (NHPC) has been suspended for inquiry purpose by SEBON on appointment of Registrar to Share matter. The last traded price of the NHPC was at Rs 54.
In this week’s trading session, Karnali Development Bank Limited (KRBL), closed at Rs 80, was the Top Gainer with Rs 17 or 26.98%. On the other side, Purnima Bikas Bank Limited (PURBL), closed at Rs 84, was the Top Loser with Rs 12 or 12.50%.Whereas among the scrips trading above par value, Nilgiri Bikas Bank Limited (NGBL), closed at Rs 137, was the Top Gainer with Rs 19 or 16.10% and National Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLICL), closed at Rs 470, was the Top Loser with Rs 65 or 12.15%.
Likewise, with 327,615 units KIST Bank Limited (KIST), closed at Rs 115, had the highest share traded. Similarly, Janata Bank Nepal Limited (JBNL), closed at Rs 137, had the highest overall week transaction of 899 times. It seems the investors who have taken loans from financial institution for IPO of JBNL are selling their share to repay loans and book their 20-30% profit from it.
All in all, with 85,855 units worth Rs.92,008,618 via 288transactions Everest Bank Limited (EBL), closed at Rs 1065, was the top performer in terms of highest turnover in overall week’s session; in which Broker No 25 (Sweta Securities Pvt. Limited) was most active broker with 44.43% stand alone dealing of EBL, amounting Rs 40,876,942 via 23 transactions of 38,102 units which includes matching of 36,992 units worth Rs 39,683,526 via 12 transactions.
Sectoral wise, Finance and Hotel sector declined by 0.47% and 0.20% points to rest at 262.49 and 489.42 level respectively. Whereas all other remaining sub-indices rose as compared to prior week’s closing level. With 17.62 or 2.97% points climb, Others was the top gainer which settled at 610.95 level. Similarly, other major gainers for this week were Hydro sector followed by Banking, Development and Insurance with 2.94%, 1.47%, 0.83% and 0.08% points respectively. All in all, Sensitive index gained 1.88 or 1.85% to settle at 103.76 level while Float index added 0.27 or 0.87% points than preceding week’s final level of 30.96.
Total scrips traded for the week were 113 with 64 gainers and 40 Losers .Overall week’s turnover was of Rs 460,701,269 which is comparatively Rs 90,782,589 or 24.54% higher than prior week. Overall 1,454,671 units of shares were traded via 7,505 transactions. The total market capitalization at the end of review period was Rs 379426.55 millions which is higher by Rs 5748.29 millions compare to previous week’s closing.
