Nepse wrap up as of 1st –5th July 2012

Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) after declining 4.55 points from the first two days of the trade recovered its way to bullish mark after gaining points from Tuesday for three consecutive days. The benchmark index closed at 377.38 level losing 0.09 or 0.02% points than the previous week’s closing level. The highest level during review period was on Thursday with 377.38 points whereas lowest was on Monday with 372.92 points.

This week Nepse saw an increase in its turnover by 76.24% because of the separate bulk transaction of 239,926 units of Laxmi Bank Ltd (LBL) worth Rs 70,058,392 at Rs 292 per unit. According to Nepse, they did this transaction in separate window so as not to affect the LBL share price in the market. The share rate for this transaction was fixed accord to the Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) Limited and Rastriya Beema Sansthan (RBS). These shares were pledged under the name of Ruchi Jajodiya in RBB which were bought by RBS. This transaction was done between Broker No 40 (Creative Securities Pvt. Limited) and Broker No 25 (Sweta Securities Pvt. Limited).

In this week’s trading session, Seti Finance Limited, closed at Rs 62, was the Top Gainer with Rs 7 or 12.73% whereas in case of stocks whose trading are being above par value, Butwal Power Co. Ltd. , closed at Rs 517, was the Top Gainer with Rs 46 or 9.77%. On the other side, Purnima Bikas Bank Limited, closed at Rs 102, was the Top Loser with Rs 16 or 13.56%. Likewise, National Hydro Power Co. Ltd. had the highest traded share of 157,320 units for this week also. Similarly, Everest Bank Limited had the highest transaction of 402 times for the week.  All in all, with 248,311 units worth Rs. 72,774,472 via 56transactions Laxmi Bank Limited (LBL) was the top performer in terms of highest turnover in overall week’s session; in which Broker No 40 (Creative Securities Pvt.Limited) was most active broker with 96.41% stand alone dealing of LBL, amounting Rs 70,165,148 via 7 transactions of 240,254 units.

Sectoral wise, Insurance was the top gainer with 6.45 or 1.35% points, close at 487.35 level, followed by Hydro, Finance and Banking with 4 or 0.64%, 0.96 or 0.36% and 0.80 or 0.23% points compare to earlier week’s closing level.  Similarly, Others suffered the highest loss with 5.87 or 1.04%, settled at 558.09 level, followed by Development sector with 1.21 or 0.49% points and Hotels with 0.05 or 0.01% points than previous week’s concluding level.  All in all, Sensitive index gained by 0.4 or 0.04% to settle at 97 level while Float index gained by 0.08 or 0.27% point than preceding week’s final level.  

The total turnover made this week was Rs 305,126,584, which is astoundingly Rs 131,996,507 higher than prior week, with highest on Thursday with Rs 51,102,260 and lowest on Tuesday with Rs 42,028,014. Overall 853,287 units of shares were traded via 5175 transactions. The total market capitalization at the end of review period was Rs 356,591.53 millions which is higher by Rs 81.69 millions compare to previous week’s closing.
