NEPSE TUMBLES BY 5.27 POINTS

The market index today went in the opposite direction after the continuous surge of the past two days. Despite the consensus among the big four parties to form a CJ (Chief Justice) led government and positive indication from the CJ himself to lead the country to election, the market movement has not been able to soar as expected.

The hearing of the Supreme Court decision on the case filed against CJ and the need to make an amendment in the interim constitution of the country have made the investors wait and watch to invest in the current scenario. Following the yesterday’s correction from 550 levels, the local bourse today also retrace from the beginning of the session resulting in a loss of  5.27 points to close at 540.27 levels.

Similarly, there were also ups and downs in the sub-indices movement. The Finance sector , which suffered loss yesterday, today rallied up by 0.42 points along side with Development which continued to maintain the yesterday’s pace as it made surge of 0.49 points.

Whereas, the rest of sub-indices plunged to settle in the red zone. Hotels saw the most loss as it came down by 9.07 points following the drop in Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL), Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) and Taragaon Regency Hotel (TRH). Likewise, Hydro plummeted by 8.85 points as the fall in the value of  Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 3 and Rs 17 respectively dragged the sector down.

While, the descent in 21 banking scrips, among the 27 scrips traded, resulted in the decline of Banking by 6.9 points. The scrips like NABIL Bank Limited Promoter Share (NABILPO) , Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBI), Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB) and Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL) came down by more than Rs 25 today. As for Insurance, it derailed by 4.86 points whereas Others decreased by 5.87 points.

Overall there were only 91 scrips traded among which 23 scrips increased 12 remained intact and 56 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Manakamana Development Bank Limited (MKDBL), closed at Rs 77, with Rs 7 or 10% gain. Whereas, Vibor Bikas Bank Limited (VBBL), closed at Rs 80, was the highest loser with Rs 4 or 4.76%. Among the shares trading above par, Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBI), closed at Rs 837, was the highest loser with Rs 33 or 3.79% loss whereas Lumbini Bank Ltd., closed at Rs 270, was the highest gainer with Rs 10 or 3.85%.

In terms of highest share traded and turnover, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd.  (NBB), closed at Rs 328, topped with 64,829 units worth Rs 21,066,866 via 157 transactions; in which Broker no 32 (Premier Securities Company Limited) was the most active Broker with 15.87% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 10,309 units worth Rs 3,343,606 via 12 transactions.

Overall, 294,396 units of shares were traded by 1,302 transactions worth Rs 96,449,646; the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 520,410.27 million.
