NEPSE TUMBLE WITH FALL IN MAJOR SUB-INDICES

The secondary market of Nepal, today also continued to tumble as the local bourse settled at 520.69 levels. From the beginning of the session, the market did not show any sign of resilience to move in an upward direction as the benchmark index made the plunge till 2:21 pm to the lowest level of 517.49 levels. But with the last trade of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) at Rs 581, which is Rs 11 above the last traded price of Rs 570, the market was able to narrow its loss to meager 0.73 points
Though the scrip of NTC settled Rs 6 higher than the prior day’s level, the Others today suffered the loss of 5.87 points. While, all the three sub-indices related to banking and financial institutions settled in the south zone today as Banking dropped 1.82 points, Development plummeted 1.77 points and Finance declined 0.37 points.
Similarly, Hydro sector also made a fall of 7.29 points whereas the decrease in the level of Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC), National LifeInsu. Co. Ltd. (NLICL) dragged the Insurance sector down by 14.42 points. As for Hotels, it climbed 0.76 points but Manufacturing sector remained intact at 840.23 levels.
Overall there were trade of 84 scrips among which 19 scrips increased 15 remained intact and 50 scrips decreased. The best performer for the day was, Kathmandu Finance Limited. (KFL), closed at Rs 139, with Rs 6 or 4.51% gain. Whereas, Kankai Bikas Bank Ltd. (KNBL), closed at Rs 74, was the worst performer with Rs 18 or 19.57% loss. Among the ordinary scrips trading above par, Asian Life Insurance Co. Limited (ALICL), closed at RS 222, was the top loser with Rs 10 or 4.31%.
In case of the highest shares traded, Civil Bank Ltd (CBL), closed at Rs 161, topped with 31,011 units. In terms of turnover, Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC), closed at Rs 2110, topped with 15,942 units worth Rs 33,516,969 via 36 transactions; in which Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 61.15% stand alone dealing of NLIC, tallying 9,748 units worth Rs 20,496,190 via 8 transactions which includes 4 matching transactions totaling 1,983 worth Rs 4,189,660.
Altogether 198,490 units of shares were traded via 996 transactions worth Rs 94,956,805 which is higher by Rs 12403293 or 15.02% than yesterday’s trade; the market capitalization at the day stood at Rs 505,685.00 Millions.
