Nepse to upgrade trading system

KATHMANDU, Jan 14:

Officials of Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) have said preparations were underway to start Internet-based trading of securities at the country´s only bourse.

Addressing a program to celebrate 20th anniversary of Nepse here on Monday, Sitaram Thapaliya, general manager of Nepse, said the process to upgrade Nepse on par with the international standard had already begun. “The upgradation will help reduce risks associated with the current transaction system,” Thapaliya said in the program, according to a press release issued on Monday.

Thapaliya also said the process to install electronic display board and make live trading data available through television scroll has begun.

According to the release, five new companies have been listed on the secondary market in this fiscal year so far.
With this, the number of listed companies has reached 235.
