NEPSE to remain closed today for May Day

Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed today to mark the May Day.

Since today was supposed to be the last trading day of the week, the only share market of the country will reopen only on Sunday for the trading.

Owing to the latest economic statistics of Nepal—the growth rate is stated to be over five percent after a hiatus of seven years—the positive sentiment of the investors gave boost to the market on the last trading day of the week yesterday.

Fuelled by such sentiment, the market has come to witness a buying spree in most of the listed shares.

The benchmark index rallied by 6.99 points to close at two months high of 823.24 level.

Banking sector, which was experiencing sluggish growth for the past few weeks, surged by 6.27 points.
