NEPSE to Remain Closed: Government Declares Public Holiday Due to Jana Yudh (People's War Day)
The government of Nepal has decided to give a public holiday on the Jana Yudh (People's War day).
At a meeting on Sunday afternoon at the Prime Minister's office, the Council of Ministers has decided to announce Falgun 1 as People's War Day, a public holiday.
On Mangsir 5, 2063, a comprehensive peace deal replaced the people's war that had begun on Falgun 1, 2052. On the strength of that people's movement and people's war, political transformation in Nepal was made possible, and accomplishments including the republic, federal system, inclusive democracy, and social justice were formed.
Also, Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will be closed for regular trading.
However, essential banking services such cash transactions, check clearing, RTGS, etc., will be opened on Falgun 1 by keeping the appropriate divisions and offices of banks and financial institutions open from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm.
