Government extends Tihar holiday by a day to observe Kija Puja; Tomorrow is NEPSE's last trading day before the festival

Wed, Nov 11, 2020 4:29 PM on Latest, Stock Market,

Like in previous years, NEPSE will observe Tihar, Nepal's major festival, and remain closed throughout the entirety of the festival.

Kartik 27 (Thursday) is the last trading day in NEPSE before the Tihar holidays. The market will then remain closed for five days.

Since Kartik 28 falls on a Friday, NEPSE would not trade anyway. Laxmi Puja, Mha Puja, and Bhai Tika fall on subsequent days from Kartik 29 to Mangsir 01. This time, the government has declared a public holiday on 2nd Mangsir as well on behalf of Kija Puja. It is also a part of Bhai Tika observed by the Newar community.

Thus, NEPSE will reopen only on Mangsir 03. While the market reopens, these are the main events on the first day:

a) 2nd AGM of Nepal Infrastructure Bank Limited on Mangsir 03.

b) IPO open of United IdiMardi and R.B. Hydropower on the same day.
