NEPSE SURGE BUT FAILS TO SUSTAIN AT HIGH LEVEL

The investors’ hopes and confidence today was sky high with the news of  sworn in by the Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi as the chairman of Interim election council. As the major four political parties reached a midnight deal yesterday to set path for CJ led government, the President today administered oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Khil Raj Regmi as chairman of the interim election council at Sheetal Niwas.

This news boosted the confidence and created positive sentiment among the investors today which led to more than 15 points increment within the first ten minutes of the trading session. But in the following session with the fear of circuit breaker in the market, the big investors were quick to capitalize in the higher level resulting in the high selling pressure which gradually declined the market index.

Likewise, the strike in the midst of the afternoon by the 22 parties including CPN-Maoist as the protest against CJ led government, withheld the investor’s positive sentiment from further development. This action by 22 parties has created a question of possibility of conducting the smooth election with the involvement of all the parties by the newly appointed chairman of Interim election council. With all these happenings in the market and in the country, the local bourse was not able to sustain at the higher level and limited its gain only to 2.26 points to close at 548.4 levels.

The turnover in the market today also was in the high figures as it stood at Rs 175,638,181 with the numbers of share traded tallying around 834,637 units which were carried out by 2,040 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 532,248.40 million.

Among the sub-indices, today also all the sectoral indices landed in the green terrain. Hydro sector rose by 9.19 points following the surge in the scrip of Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL ) by Rs 15 and Rs 6 respectively. Likewise, Insurance and Others followed with gain of 7.78 and 7.05 points respectively. In Insurance, Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC), Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LIC) and Lumbini General Insurance (LGI) today also were able to make double digit growth.

Whereas, the propel in the price of Himalayan Bank Ltd. (HBL), Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), NABIL Bank Limited Promotor Share (NABILPO), Global IME Bank Limited (GIME) and Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL ) by Rs 32, Rs 20, Rs 15, Rs 13 and Rs 13 respectively helped to boost the Banking sector up by 1.46 points today. As for Development and Finance, both made climb of 1.64 and 1.01 points respectively.

Overall there were trade of 79 scrips among which 44 scrips increased 10 remained intact and 25 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Vibor Bikas Bank Limited (VBBL), closed at Rs 128, with Rs 11 or 9.40%. Whereas the highest loser of the day was, Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme-1 (SIGS1), closed at Rs 11.90, with Rs 1.1 or 8.46% loss; in terms of highest share traded also SIGS1 topped with 273,400 units.

In case of highest turnover, KIST Bank Limited (KIST), closed at Rs 158, topped with 127,525 units worth Rs 20,534,625 via 181 transactions; in which Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 48.08% stand alone dealing of KIST, tallying 61,175 units worth Rs 9,873,075 via 69 transactions which includes four matching transactions totaling 6,850 units worth Rs 1,091,850.
