NEPSE SURGE AFTER CORRECTION

After the surge in the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) by more than 17 points in last two trading days, the investors today started to book their profit resulting in the correction in the initial hour of trading. From the initial hour the market was on the downhill but in the later hours, the benchmark index gradually made improvement in its level. In overall, the market index made a correction of 2.1 or 0.42% points to close at 497.67 levels today.
Among the sub-indices, Manufacturing sector was the only sector to make progress in its level. With the increment in Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) by Rs 466, the sector made the climb of hefty 24.18 points. As for the remaining sector, Insurance had the highest decline of 14.1 points; the decline in the price level of Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN), National Life Insu. Co. Ltd. (NLICL) and Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd (SIL) mainly contributed in the sectors descend.
Similarly, Banking, Development and Finance also dropped by 3.35, 0.39 and 0.19 points respectively. Under the Banking, Lumbini Bank Ltd. (LBL), Global IME Bank Limited (Global IME), Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBI) were the only scrips that make surge today whereas the scrips like Himalayan Bank Ltd. (HBL), Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB), Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBBL), Everest Bank Ltd (EBL) and Bank of Kathmandu (BOK) all dropped by amount of two digits.
Likewise, the plummet in the price level of Chilime Hydro power Co. by Rs 15 dragged down the Hydro sector by 9.27 points. Also, the hefty decrease in Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) by Rs 59 or 18.10% pulled down the Hotels sector today by 7.75 points. Due to the price alteration by the Nepse as per the rule to amend the price following the book closure date to adjust the bonus share declared by the company, resulted in the highest fall in the level of SHL among the shares traded today. While, Other sector today declined by 5.87 points.
Overall there were 87 scrips traded among which 23 scrips increased, 11 remain intact and only 53 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was Surya Life Insurance Company Ltd. (SLICL), closed at Rs 187, with Rs 17 or 10%.
In terms of highest share traded and turnover, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBBL), closed at Rs 251, topped with 54,845 units worth Rs 13,741,315 via 124 transactions; in which Broker No 8 (Ashutosh Brokerage & Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 23.26% stand alone dealing of NBBL, tallying 12,765 units worth Rs 3,196,150 via 43 selling transactions.
Overall 361,100 units of shares were traded worth Rs 119,969,378 via 1,425 transactions; the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 471,610.68 Millions.
