NEPSE starts the week with surge of 6.65 points

The benchmark index of Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) gained 6.65 points or 0.77 percent to stand at 869.15 level compared to last week’s closing of 862.50 level.

Owing to the good buying pressure in most of the listed companies, the local bourse floated more than 20 points in the initial hour, touching the intraday high of 883.40 level.  In addition, the improvement of demand in banking scrips attributed further in the market growth.

The recovery in the benchmark index from few trading days has developed the confidence among the investors in the country.

The Total turnover has increased by more than Rs 47 million, compared to last week’s Rs 214.5 million. Altogether 566,560 units share were traded through 2,169 transactions worth Rs 261.06 million.


Among the sub-indices, Banking surged by 3.06 points, following the similar trend of NEPSE index.  HydroPower and Insurance has elevated by double digit of 69.72 and 29.83 points or 3.31 and 0.79 percent respectively. Similarly Hotels and Development increased by 7.85 and 6.44 points respectively. ‘Others’ heaved by 8.22 points at the end.

Finance was the only sector in red, which faced meager plunge of 0.35 points.


Everest Insurance (EIC) was on the top of the gainer side with the increase of Rs 87 or 10 percent, following the news of the company, to issue 1:1.5 right shares to its existing shareholders. Clean Energy, Laxmi Laghubitta and Surya Life Insurance were other top gainers.

Where as, Namaste Bittiya sanstha, Pokhara Finance, Siddhartha Finance, Apex Development and Bhargav BIkash Bank were on top losers side.
