NEPSE STARTS FY 2071/72 ON POSITIVE NOTE

Buoyed by the upbeat sentiment of investors, the secondary market of Nepal welcomed the FY 2071/72 on positive note. Spur by the buying sentiment in banking scrips, the benchmark index rallied by 9.78 points to settle at 1045.89 level.

“Latest days have all been good for the market. The timely budget followed by the upcoming monetary policy, which is expected to address about provision related to new banks, has helped to set a positive sentiment on the market,” says one of the investors.

He further adds, “As the listed companies will start publishing its fourth quarter reports, the investors and traders will drive the market in expectation of good returns from these companies.”

Driven by such sentiment, most of the investors and traders today also continued to accumulated banking and financial institutions’ scrips along with hydro and insurance shares.

Banking sector today added 12.63 points, Development inclined by 12.05 points, Finance rose by 13.08 points, Hydro gained 22.91 points and Insurance advanced by 18.54 points.

While, Trading dropped by 0.08 point and Others suffered loss of 14.1 points. As for Hotels, it climbed 39.56 points.

All in all, the scrips of 153 companies were traded, out of which 102 scrips gained, 12 remained intact and 39 scrips lost.

The best performer for the day were, Central Finance Co. Ltd. (CFCL), closed at Rs 209, Everest Finance Ltd,   (EFL), closed at Rs 176, Muktinath Bikas Bank Ltd. (MNBBL), closed at Rs 693, and Nepal Finance Ltd. (PBSL), closed at Rs 99, with a gain of 10 percent by each i.e. Rs 19, Rs 16, Rs 63 and Rs 9 respectively. Whereas, Apex Development Bank Ltd.  (APEX), closed at Rs 154, was the worst performer today with Rs 8 or 4.94 percent loss.

As for the highest turnover, Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL), which closed at 2738, had the highest turnover. Altogether, 36,051 share units were traded through 122 transactions worth Rs 97,880,470.

The market turnover today stood at Rs 690,427,892, with total number of shares traded at 1,116,988 units which were traded through 4,068  transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 1,067,147.59 Millions.
