NEPSE Spikes Up By 53.03 Points After CGT Established as Final Tax; All Sectors Close Green

The NEPSE index closed at 1,919.37 today after gaining impressive 53.03 points from the last trading day's closing. This is a gain of 2.84%. The index gained 16.54 points last Thursday. 

Despite the market's scheduled opening at 11:00 am this morning, all 50 of the current brokers were still inoperative. As a result, a meeting of all concerned stakeholders had been scheduled at the Ministry of Finance's Singhadurbar headquarters where Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, the current finance minister, urged investors not to panic and said that the Capital Gain Tax (CGT) will be the only tax that would be applied to profit from trading shares.

Today the index opened at 1,866.35 and then made the intraday low at 1,865.73. In contrast, it went as high as 1,925.11 and ultimately closed at 1,919.37.

270 scrips traded hands via 31,252 transactions. A total of 4,557,169 shares exchanged hands amounting to Rs. 1,656 Arba in turnover amount.

SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) shares traded the most and had the highest turnover of Rs. 15.81 crores closing at a market price of Rs. 486.90 per share.

IGI Prudential Insurance Limited (IGI) gained the highest 10% and hit a positive circuit for the day.

Conversely, 12% ICFC Finance Limited Debenture 2083 (ICFCD83) lost the highest 1.96% today.

All sector indices closed green, "Hotel and Tourism" gained the highest 7.37% while "Mutual Fund" gained the least 0.76% today.
