Nepse soon to launch block trading facility (BTF)

Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) will shortly be providing block trading facility (BTF) for transactions of 10,000 or more units of shares. Under the mechansim, promoter’s as well as public shares could be traded which is expected to facilitate the bulk trading of shares.
Nepse spokesperson Shambhu Pant said that Nepse would recognise the negotiated price among the parties involved in bulk share trading under the mechanism. “We are currently discussing on the matter with stakeholders such as the Nepal Stock Brokers’ Associaton and Finance Ministry,” said Pant, revealing that Nepse is planning to provide the facility within mid-April 2014. The Nepse also said on Tuesday that it is undertkaing a number of other reform initiatives.
It has initiated the proces of displaying live trading data through display board and TV scroll at real time, to make it more convenient and easier for investors to make investment decision, Nepse said in a statement.
Pant said that such display boards would be put up in the city’s major areas such as Durbarmarg and shopping malls in the Kathmandu valley. Nepse is also be publishing Expression of Interest (EoI) soon to hire a consultant to make the stock trading fully computarised. Based on the consultant’s report, the stock trading will be made internet based.
Also, to make real time communication effective, Nepse has strengthened the security of its website. “Due to this, load in the server caused following data scrap and data crawling has declined, making the dispatch of information effective and efficient,” the statement said.
Nepse, which has been providing service from four cities outside Kathmandu including Biratnagar, Pokhara, Narayanghat and Butwal through Remote Work Station (RWS), is also planning to start its operation in Dharan from this fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the 32nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Nepse has approved 2:1 bonus shares worth Rs 100 million, increasing the paid up capital, issued capital and authorised capital at Rs 300 million. Nepse has added five new companies in the current fiscal year, taking the number of the listed company to 235.
