NEPSE SKIDS BY 0.52 POINT

Fighting its way up from the bearish path, the market index limited its loss to meager 0.52 points today. The benchmark index at the end of the day closed at 774.76 level.

Following more than 20 points surge in the last two trading days of prior week, the market observed high selling pressure in the initial hour of the trade as the investors opted to book their profit which dragged the market down to 770 level.

However, the rush of traders to grab the shares in lower price propelled the market in latter hours which limited the today’s loss below one point.

Insurance sector’s scrips witnessed the most plunge in share price as the sub-index dropped by 14.24 points followed by Hotels with 16.98 points. Similarly, two of the banking and financial sub-indices, Banking and Finance also suffered loss of 0.31 point and 0.87 point respectively.

While, Hydro and Others surged by 3.04 points and 2.35 points respectively. As for Development , it sustain a gain of 0.009 point.

All in all, the 123 scrips were traded, out of which 52 scrips gained, 11 remained intact and 60 scrips lost.

The best performers for the day was, Western Development Bank Limited (WDBL), closed at Rs 233, with Rs 21 or 9.91 percent gain. Whereas, Lumbini General Insurance (LGIL), closed at Rs 370, was the top loser among the ordinary shares with Rs 40 or 9.76 percent loss.

The share with the highest turnover this week was, Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL), closed at Rs 1670, with 33,041 units worth Rs 54,737,086, which were carried by 111 transactions.

The broker with the highest standalone dealing of the CHCL was Broker No 49 (Online Securities Pvt.Ltd) with 61.59 percent; amounting Rs 67,430,000 via five transactions totaling 40,762 units which include one matching transactions of 19,972 units worth Rs 33,033,688.

Overall, 553,047 units of share were traded by, 2,015 transactions worth Rs 248,487,116; the market capitalization by the end of the day tallied to Rs 789,630.12 million.
