Nepse sheds on after effect of Monetary Policy

The Monetary policy for the fiscal year 2069/70 fails to create a positive impact in Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) as the benchmark index for entire session traded in the red pasture. The increase in Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) for the Banking and Financial Institutions has decrease the prospect of lending rates going down which dampened the investors and business community’s hopes of lower rate. Even though the sentiments of people was not favorable towards market , the benchmark index taking support at 400 level indicates that in coming days the index could bounce back from here. Today the bourse lost 3.48 or 0.86% points to rest at 401.54 level.
From today onwards Kasthamandap Development Bank Ltd. (KDBL) which merged with Shikhar Finance Limited, stock transactions were resumed. The Scrip was the Top Gainer for the day with Rs 9 or 9.78%; the stock traded between the range of Rs 101-93 to close at Rs 101. Similarly, the transaction of National Hydro Power Co. (NHPC) has been suspended for inquiry purpose by SEBON. The last traded price of the NHPC was at Rs 54.
The Top Loser for the day was First Purnima Bikash Bank Limited (PURBL), settled at Rs 84, with Rs 8 or 8.70%. Whereas among the scrips trading above par value, Hama Merchant and Finance Limited (HAMA), settled at Rs 201, was the Top Loser with Rs 12 or 5.63%
Today also Janata Bank Nepal Ltd. (JBNL), closed at Rs 137, topped the categories of highest transaction with 131 times. It seems the investors who have taken loans from financial institution for IPO of JBNL are selling their share to repay loans. All in all, with 105,120 shares worth Rs 11,915,590 via 103 transactions, KIST Bank Limited (KIST), closed at Rs 115, had the highest turnover and share traded; in which Broker No 42 (Sunny Securities Company Limited) was the most active broker with 95.80% stand alone dealing of KIST, amounting Rs 11,415,680 of 100,800 units via 82 transactions which includes matching of 3,500 units worth Rs 398,500 via 5 transaction.
Sectoral wise, Hydro and Insurance sectors were only the two positive movers with 0.579% and 0.04 % whereas all other remaining sub-indices suffered loss. Banking sector was the top loser with 1.31% followed by Others, Development and Finance with 0.76%, 0.34% and 0.34%points respectively. Sensitive index plummeted by 0.97 or 0.92% points to rest at 103.76 level while Float index also declined by 0.246 or 0.78% point to close at 31.23 level.
Total scrips traded for the day was 85 with 27 gainers and 48 losers with total turnover of Rs 55,155,815 which is astoundingly Rs 90,033,897or 62.01% lower than prior trading session. Overall 236,767 units of shares were traded via 1265 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 379,426.55 Millions.
