NEPSE sheds 8.17 points; turnover Rs 289 million

NEPSE index today plunged 8.17 points to land at 844.34 level after yesterday’s gain of 7.78 points.
The benchmark index opened at 892.3 points and had a continuous decline till the market closed.
Investors sentiment continues to remain wobbly in spite of the news of NRB probably issuing a directive regarding loans on demat shares in upcoming days. According to the brokers, the current provision of loan on only physical shares has led to low participation in market, which has dampen the market movement.
Among the sub-indices, Insurance, HydroPower and Others played a major role in decline of NEPSE, as they declined by double digits of 55.34, 39.25 and 11.74 points respectively.
Banking, which covers more than 50 percent of market capitalization, also attributed in downfall of NEPSE as the sector dropped by 6.77 points.
Finance and Development had a minor role in today’s fall as the sub-groups decreased by meager 2.35 and 0.11 points respectively.
As for Hotels, it managed to be in green with gain of 29.49 points.
The market turnover increased to Rs 289 million, up from yesterday’s Rs 218 million, following manual turnover of Rs 60 million today.
