Nepse sheds 2.87 points

The benchmark index of Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (Nepse) shed another 2.87 points or 0.31 percent, to close at 930.21 level.
Though the market made gain in the initial few minutes, the selling pressure in banking scrips proved too much for the market index as it moved in positive correlation with Banking sub-group. The Banking sub-index, which covers 80 percent of market capitalization, coming to the end of the day suffered loss of 4.38 points.
In addition Hotels, Hydro and Insurance also aided in the Nepse’s fall. Hotels declined by 10.85 points, Hydro shed 51.47 points and Insurance tumbled by 1.11 points.
As for remaining sub-groups, Others increased by 3.53 points, Manufacturing added 39.7 points, Development gained 1.83 points and Finance made meager growth of 0.32 point.
Among the traded shares, Standard Charter Bank Limited made the highest turnover worth Rs 43.25 million. As today was the last date to grab the company’s dividend of 10 percent bonus share and 41.5 percent cash, the investors made the most of it. The company has declared its book closure date from tomorrow for its upcoming Annual General Meeting.
The market turnover today stood at Rs 299.44 million with 584,992 units share trading through 2,666 transactions.
