ShareSansar , June 29:

The server of Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) was down for more than half an hour, which has resulted in zero transaction at the only stock exchange of the country today.

This is not the first time the NEPSE’s server has failed to perform, but today’s technical snag is the biggest one so far and has affected trading worth crores of rupees already.
NEPSE officials would not give any specific reason for the problem.

Nonetheless, it has been informed that as the server was down till 12:35 PM, the trading resumed 35 minutes behind the schedule, and would continue till 3:35 PM.

“This shows a big weakness on the part of NEPSE,” says share investor Uddhav Siwakoti. “The stock exchange charges a lot from the investors, and is making good returns from the market, and is never in loss. It’s a pity that they have not been able to operate their serve smoothly instead of upgrading it.”

He added that though NEPSE compensates for the lost time due to the server problem by adding the lost hour at the end of the regular trading hour, it does not necessarily help the investors as they might have other important assignments/ appointments after the regular trading hours.

A number of brokers approached by ShareSansar also expressed concern over repeated problem with the NEPSE server over the recent months.
