NEPSE RESIST 550 LEVEL

The sentiment in the today’s market was also in a positive note with the recent political development of the country. However, the market index today also failed to breach the 550 level following the selling pressure on the blue chip companies. After the retrace from the 38 months high of 555.93 levels, created in the previous week, the local bourse has made subsequent attempts to break 550 levels. But, the profit booking by the short term investor’s makes selling pressure higher than the buying pressure in the market resulting in a resist at upper level. Despite all the high selling pressure, the market today was able to increase by 1.3 points to close at 545.54 levels.
The turnover today also was over Rs 100 million, suggesting a healthy participation of the investors in the market. Overall, 444,028 units of shares were traded by 1,448 transactions worth Rs 158,172,819 which is higher by Rs 19,716,975 or 14.24% than yesterday’s turnover; the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 525,485.15 million.
Altogether there were trades of only six sectors today, among which Hydro soars by highest points of 13.59. The increment in all the scrips i.e. Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 5, Rs 30 and Rs 4 propelled the sector today. Likewise, a surge in the level of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) by Rs 5 uplifted the Others sector by 5.87 points.
Similarly, Banking and Development also ascended by 0.17 and 0.37 points respectively. Under Banking, NABIL Bank Limited Promotor Share (NABILPO), Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL) and Janata Bank Nepal Ltd. (JBNL) were only the scrips that had double digit growth.
While, the plunge in the value of Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN), Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd (SIC) and Prime Life Insurance Company Limited (PLICL) by Rs 30, Rs 5 and Rs 2 respectively dragged the Insurance sector down by 0.05 points. As for Finance, it also tumbled by 0.01 points following the drop in Janaki Finance Ltd. (JFL) by Rs 6.
Among other news today, the promoter share of Infrastructure Development Bank i.e. ‘IDBLPO’ has been resumed for trading purpose after the successful merger with Swastik Merchant Finance Ltd. Likewise, the trading of Sangrila Development Bank Ltd. (SADBL) and Bageshwari Development Bank Ltd. (BBBLN) has been suspended as the companies are going for merger process with each other.
Overall there were only 70 scrips traded among which 37 scrips increased 7 remained intact and 26 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Janata Bank Nepal Ltd. (JBNL), closed at Rs 196, with Rs 11 or 5.95% gain. Whereas, Infrastructure Development Bank Limited Promoter Share (IDBLPO), closed at Rs 100, was the highest loser with Rs 23 or 18.70%. Among the ordinary share, Lumbini Bank Ltd. (LBL), closed at Rs 260, was the highest loser with Rs 14 or 5.11% loss.
In terms of highest share traded and turnover, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 328, topped with 95,775 units worth Rs 31,386,652 via 217 transactions; in which Broker no 32 (Premier Securities Company Limited) was the most active Broker with 14.82% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 14,320 units worth Rs 4,654,110 via 21 transactions which includes 2 matching transactions totaling 345 units worth Rs 113,260.
