NEPSE RECOVERS YESTERDAY’S LOSS

The secondary market of Nepal today covered the yesterday’s loss of 3.08 points by rallying up by 3.61 points; the market index closed at 513.85 levels today. Though the market yesterday declined because of the political drama prevailing in the country, the increasing interest of the investors towards the market helped to maintain the benchmark index in the green pasture today. With the lack of investment opportunity, low interest rate, deteriorating real estate business and commodity market, the investors are attracted towards the liquidity that they have in the secondary market.
Today, the market saw a new history in making as the scrip of Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) reached the highest level ever by an individual scrip in the history of secondary market of Nepal. The scrip that was opened at the level of Rs 8,923 at the end of the day reached the highest level of Rs 9815 per unit; overall the scrip added Rs 892 or 10% in its tally making it second highest gainer of the day. With the increment in the scrip, Manufacturing index also boosted by 46.29 points.
Similarly, Banking, Development and Finance, all of the three sub-indices related to Banking and Financial Institutions, rallied up by 6.52, 5.28 and 2.66 points respectively. Among the 27 scrips traded under Banking, only Siddhartha Bank (SBL) Limited and NABIL Bank Limited Promoter Share (NABILP) were the scrips decliners by Rs 1 and Rs 19 respectively whereas Nepal Bank Ltd (NBL), Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL) and Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBI) were the scrips which incremented by more than Rs 20.
Under Development, the proposed 10% cash dividend by Tourism Development Bank Ltd. (TDBL) has been cancelled by NRB as the company’s financial requirement did not comply with NRB directive; the news dragged the company scrip by Rs 8 to Rs 100 making it the highest loser among the traded scrips today. In Finance, the increment in the Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) by Rs 104 mainly contributed in the sector’s growth.
As for Others sector, it declined by 8.22 points as the scrip of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) came down by Rs 7. Likewise, the fall in Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 2, Rs 13 and Rs 3 respectively brought down the Hydro sector by 6.65 points today. Similarly, Insurance and Hotels also decreased by 3.42 and 1.32 points respectively.
Overall there were 84 scrips traded among which 46 scrips increased, 10 remain intact and 28 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was a Himalayan Finance Limited (Bittiya Sanstha), closed at Rs 43.41, with Rs 4 or 10.01% gain. In terms of highest share traded, Janata Bank Nepal Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 167, topped with 34,449units
In terms of highest turnover, Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. (NIB), closed at Rs 940, topped with 27,097 units worth Rs 25,490,862 via 159 transactions; in which Broker No 1 (Kumari Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 17.25% stand alone dealing of NIB, tallying 4,680 units worth Rs 4,398,523 via 21 transactions.
The turnover for the day stood at Rs 134,884,190 which is comparatively Rs 21,838,918 or 19.31% higher than the prior trading day. Overall, 335,584 units of share were traded via 1,525 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 413,187.23 Millions at the end of the day.
