NEPSE REBOUNCE TO NARROW THE LOSS

Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) today also followed yesterday’s trend as it dwelled in the red session for the entire day. Following the trade below the opening level, the market index drifted towards 511 levels by the half period of the session then took support at this level to gradually incline to settle at 512.62 levels, narrowing the loss to 0.57 points.

Altogether there were trade of eight sectors; Manufacturing  and Banking sub indices made the climb of 0.07 and 0.29 points respectively. Under Banking, Siddhartha Bank Limited (SBL), closed at Rs 307, which has posted the second quarter net profit of Rs 114.45 million, boosted up by Rs 4. Similarly, Janata Bank Limited, which has posted the second quarter net profit of Rs 70.76 million, traded in the high of Rs 170 before coming to close at Rs 168.

While, Development and Finance plunged by 0.49 and 0.36 points respectively. Whereas, the rise in the level of Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC) by Rs 20 limited the Insurance loss to 0.17 points today. Likewise,  plummet in the value of Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs  7 and Rs 15 respectively dragged the Hydro sector down by 9.21 points.

As for Hotels and Others, both also tumbled by 4.2 and 1.17 points respectively. The fall in the Hotels was mainly due to the descent in the value of Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL) and Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) by Rs 4 and Rs 2 respectively.

Overall there were only 85 scrips traded among which 29 scrips increased, 14 remain intact and 42 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, H & B Development Bank Ltd. (HBDL), closed at Rs 63, with Rs 3 or 5.00% gain. Among the stock trading above par value, Himalayan Bank Ltd.  (HBL), closed at Rs 760, was the highest gainer with Rs 25 or 3.40%. Whereas, Summit Micro Finance Development Bank Ltd. (SMFDB), closed at Rs 211, was the highest loser with Rs 20 or 8.66%.

In terms of highest share traded and turnover, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 279, continued to top the chart with 102 transactions of 44,537 units worth Rs 12,295,651; in which Broker no 16 (Primo Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 30.13% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying, 13,400 units worth Rs 3,705,650 via 31 selling transactions which includes 2 matching transactions totaling 2200 units worth Rs 606,400.

The turnover today stood around Rs 62,749,417 which is lower by Rs 29,539,994 or 32 % than prior day’s trade. Overall  221,637 units of shares were traded via 1,018 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 494,734.79 million at the end of the day.
