NEPSE REACTS POSITIVE TOWARDS POLITICAL OUTLOOK

With the news of political parities inching towards the consensus to form a National Government once again has provided an optimistic platform for the investor to trade in the secondary market of Nepal; the news helped to boost the market index by 4.29 points today. Though the local bourse in the initial hour climbed up by nearly 10 points, the selling pressure in the Banking scrips later pulled the index down to today’s closing at 513.32 levels.

In the sub-indices, today also Hydro sector added the most points as it climbed up by 10.31 points. Mainly, the increment in the Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 21 boosted the Hydro sector today. Similarly, the jump in the price level of Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. (NIB), Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBI), Prime Commercial Bank Limited (PCBL) and Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB) by Rs 41, Rs 35, Rs 31, Rs 27, Rs 21 and Rs 20 respectively enhanced the Banking level by 8.94 points.  

As for Development and Finance, both sectors also inclined by 1.11 and 1.22 points.  Under Development, Kasthamandap Dev. Bank (KDBL), closed at Rs 81, has decided to distribute 5% cash dividend and 4% bonus share to its shareholders which is subjected to approval from NRB and its upcoming AGM; the news helped the scrip to add Rs 2 in its level today. Likewise, Insurance sector today ascended by 1.78 points; among the nine scrips traded under it, there were only two decliners today i.e. Asian Life Insurance Co. Limited (ALICL) and Guras Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (GLICL).

Whereas, Others sector declined by the most points i.e. 9.39 points; the fall in Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) by Rs 8 mainly pulled the sector down. Likewise, Trading and Hotels also came down by 3.04 and 6.99 points respectively. The drop in the price level of Bishal Bazar Co. Ltd. (BBC) by Rs 36 mainly dragged the Trading sector down today.

Overall there were 79 scrips traded among which 52 scrips increased, 10 remain intact and only 17 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was Prime Commercial Bank Limited (PCBL), closed at Rs 316, with Rs 21 or 7.12%. Whereas, Miteri Development Bank Ltd. (MDB), closed at Rs 130, was the highest loser with Rs 15 or 10.34%. In case of highest share traded, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd.  (NBB), closed at Rs 260, topped with 69,630 units.

In terms of highest turnover, Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. (NIB), closed at Rs 945, topped with 28,151 units worth Rs 26,434,259 via 113 transactions; in which Broker No 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 34.30% stand alone dealing of NIB, tallying 9,705 units worth Rs 9,066,902 via 14 transactions which includes 4 matching transactions of 2,848 units worth Rs 2,681,477.

The turnover today also surged by hefty amount as it stood around Rs 195 million which is comparatively Rs 42 million or 27.43% higher than prior trading session. Overall 454,786 share units were traded via 1,763 transactions; the market capitalization at the end of the day was Rs. 487,305.08 Millions.
