NEPSE REACH 600 LEVELS; TURNOVER CROSS Rs 300 MILLION
ShareSansar, 13th November
With each nearing day towards the election, the secondary market is swirling forward to create new heights each day. The market index today also continued its bull run to reach the pinnacle of 600 levels which is also one of the investors’ psychological barrier level. Last time the market closed and traded above this level was 49 months back in the October of 2009.
As there is high certainty of timely execution of the election despite hurdles from opposing forces, the investors are now converging towards grabbing the scrips at current levels in anticipation of further boost in the price level post election. This positive outlook of investors in current days has helped propel the market to new heights.
Pushed by the affirmative market sentiment, the market at one time reached the summit of 605 levels however, the profit booking in the late session limited the market gain to 2.03 points today, which was more than 6 points earlier. Coming to the end of the day, the NEPSE index settled at 600.07 levels.
Alongside NEPSE bull run, the participation in the market has also been on increasing path. Just like prior two days, the late hour transactions in today’s market also uplifted the overall turnover volume of the market.
Beating its yesterday’s record, the market turnover today stood at Rs 301,339,186 which is 0.84 percent higher than the prior day’s figure. Altogether 836,058 units of shares were traded through 2,774 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 608,726.11 Millions.
Post the market turnover of Rs 746,007,855 which was set back in the month of July, 2011, the market turnover hasn’t crossed the threshold of Rs 300 million mark in a single day in regular trading mechanism.
Mainly due to the large transaction of Bottlers Nepal Ltd. (Balaju) worth Rs 725,109,705 attributed to such enormous turnover back in 2011 whereas in the current context the surge in turnover attributed by increase of transactions in numerous scrips.
Today, eight companies had a turnover over Rs 10 million which is large numbers compared to preceding day’s records as only one or two companies’ turnover used to cross the threshold of Rs 10 million.
The scrip that had the highest turnover in today’s trade was Nabil Bank Ltd., closed at Rs 2213, with 8,998 units share trade worth Rs 19,979,981 which was carried out through 48 transactions.
The broker with the highest standalone dealing of the NABIL was Broker No 36 (Secured Securities Pvt. Limited) with 11.19%; totaling 2,141 units worth Rs 4,759,740 which was carried out by 7 buying transactions.
As for the movement of sub-indices, Others made a hefty decline of 14.09 points. In spite of such huge drop in Others sector, the NEPSE index maintaining a 2 point gain in itself suggests that market outlook in overall is looking good.
Similarly, following Others, Hydro and Hotels also suffered a loss of 3.4 and 6.01 points respectively. While, Insurance made a huge surge of 34.15 points followed by banking and financial institutions indices i.e. Banking, Development and Finance with 3.8, 5.19 and 1.66 point gain respectively.
