NEPSE RALLY UP BY MEAGER 1.77 POINTS

Nepal Stock Exchange today rallied up by 1.77 points to close at 519.64 levels. The benchmark index today for the entire day had a see-saw movement; as the index that opened above the 518 mark went further up above 519 levels but later came down below the opening level for four times then again rallied above the 519 levels.

Among the sub-indices, Hydro sector added the most points as it ascended by 8.85 points. The climb was mainly contributed by the increase in the scrip of Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 14. Similarly, boost in the level of Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL) by Rs 2 uplifted the Hotels sector by 0.76 points.

Likewise, Banking and Development also incremented by 4.61 and 6.07 points respectively. Under Banking, Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), Machhachapuchhre Bank Ltd (MBL), Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBI), Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB) and Sanima Bank Ltd. (SANIMA) had double digit growth. Whereas among the 26 scrips traded under Development, the growth in Diprox Development Bank (DDBL), Swabalamwan Bikash Bank (SWBBL) by Rs 30 and Rs 18 along with other 5 scrips mainly supported in sector’s increment.

While Finance sector came down by 14.22 points. The decline in 10 scrips among the 15 scrips traded under it mainly dragged the sector into red area. Similarly, the fall in the level of Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) by Rs 398 pulled down the Manufacturing sector by 20.65 points. As for Insurance and Others, both also plummeted by 7.4 and 4.7 points respectively.

Overall there were 82 scrips traded among which 30 scrips increased, 6 remain intact and 46 scrips decreased. The highest gainer of the day was Machhachapuchhre Bank Ltd (MBL), closed at Rs 242, with Rs 22 or 10.0% gain. Whereas, Yeti Finance Limited (YFL), closed at Rs 140, was the highest loser with Rs 17 or 10.83%. 

In case of highest share traded, Janata Bank Nepal Ltd. (JBL), closed at Rs 179, topped with 63, 014 units. In terms of highest turnover, Bank of Kathmandu (BOK), closed at Rs 673, topped with 17,185 units worth Rs 11,571,817 via 91 transactions.

The total turnover for the day was Rs 136,917,713; altogether 424,309 shares were trade via 1,671 transactions and the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at 500,600.65 Millions.
