Nepse plunges to six year low

KATHMANDU, 3 May:
Others and insurance sub groups pulled Nepse to almost six-year low of 344.58 points today.

The others sub group lost 15.27 points to 478.22 points, whereas insurance sub group shed 12.18 points to close at 430.34 points that pulled the secondary market index by 3.14 points as banks, development banks and hydropower — the key market players — sub groups also lost. Of the nine sub groups, only Finance companies sub group ended in the green zone.

Meanwhile, the year on year (y-o-y) Nepse index declined by 21 per cent to 384.17 points in mid-March, according to the central bank.

“The index had stood at 486.25 in the same period last year. The decline in share prices was on account of the significant increase in the supply of securities,” the central bank’s report added.
