NEPSE PLUNGE FURTHER BY 4.9 POINTS

The benchmark Nepse index, after falling below the 500 levels in the previous week, continued to face the onslaught of selling pressure today also as the local bourse plunged by 4.9 points to close at 487.94 levels.The market index that went up to the height of 494.4 levels by the first hour of trade, started to plummet with the increasing selling pressure in the banking scrips in the later phase of the session.
Among the sub-indices, apart from Finance sector all settled in the red zone, the Finance sector today made a jump of 0.04 points. As for remaining Banking and Financial sub-indices, Banking suffered a loss of 6.99 points and Development dropped 1.13 points. In Banking, Agriculture Development Bank Ltd. (ADBL), closed at Rs 211, has decided to distribute cash dividend for preference share Rs. 6.00 per share and cash dividend for ordinary share Rs. 5.26 per share which is subject to approval from NRB and its upcoming AGM. As for the remaining sectors, Hotels dropped 1.51 points, Hydro stumbled by 8.7 points, Insurance tumble by 6.24 points and Others sector plummeted by 2.35 points.
Overall there were trade of 75 scrips among which 12 scrips increased 15 remained intact and 48 scrips decreased. The best performer for the day was, Pathibhara Bikas Bank Limited (PBSL), closed at Rs 81, with Rs 5 or 6.58% gain. Among the shares trading over the par, Prime Commercial Bank Limited (PCBL), closed at Rs 315, was the top gainer with Rs 9 or 2.94% gain. Whereas, Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), closed at Rs 508, was the worst performer with Rs 56 or 9.93% loss.
In case of the highest shares traded among ordinary scrips, Civil Bank Ltd (CBL), closed at Rs 151, topped with 15,382 units. In terms of highest turnover, Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), closed at Rs 1504, topped with 4,133 units worth Rs 6,227,958 via 37 transactions; in which Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 18.73% stand alone dealing of EBL, tallying 1,552 units worth Rs 2,332,812 via 4 transactions which includes one matching transaction totaling 1,000 units worth Rs 1,500,000.
Altogether there were trade of 192,532 units of share via 1,063 transactions worth Rs 57,424,437; the market capitalization at the day stood at Rs 475,771.88 Millions.
