Sharesansar, 20th March:

The market today witnessed a decline of 3.75 points in the local bourse to close at 528.37 levels. As the market index increased by 1.55 points yesterday, the investors seem too keen  to book their profit , mainly in the scrips of Banking.  Though the benchmark index Nepse traded near the opening level for the first one and half hours, the selling pressure on the shares of Banking latter dragged the market index down.

Likewise, the lower participation of the  investors in the market also did not favor to offset the high selling presence in the market today as the numbers of shares traded were only 298,882 units via 1,238 transactions  worth only Rs 90,456,544 which is Rs 25,470,066 or 21.97% lower than the prior day.  The New Fund Offer of ‘Nabil Balanced Fund-I ’, started from today, seems to have lured the investors to divert their investment in primary market for quick and hefty return.

Among the trade of eight sub-indices today, three inclined and five declined today. The Banking sector suffered the most loss today as it plummeted by 6.5 points. Similarly,  Hydro and Trading were the other two sectors which descent by 3.76 and 2.78 points respectively. The fall in the level of Hydro was mainly contributed by the decrease in the price of Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 6 whereas the plummet in the Bishal Bazaar Co. Ltd. (BBC) by Rs 33 primarily pulled the Trading sector down today.

While, the increment in the level of Bottlers Nepal (Terai) Ltd. (BNT) by Rs 24 propelled the Manufacturing sector up by 1.64 points. Likewise, gain in the value of Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd (SIL), National LifeInsu. Co. Ltd. (NLICL), Surya Life Insurance Company Limited (SLICL) and Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC) by Rs 40, Rs 31, Rs 11 and Rs 10 respectively boosted the Insurance sector up by 9.75 points. As for Hotels, it ascended by 4.15 points.
