NEPSE PLUNGE BY 0.89 POINTS

Nepal Stock Exchange today plunged by 0.89 points after making moment up to 544 levels. Though the market in the initial hour made a gradual growth, but later on the profit booking in the scrips of Banking, Hydro and Insurance pressured the local bars in the corrected path. The benchmark index at the end of the day stood at 541.55 levels.
While, the much awaited trading of Civil Bank Ltd. commenced from today with ticker symbol CBL. The trading of CBL, closed at Rs 171, started from Rs 150 and went to make high of Rs 174; the trading volume was also in high numbers as 223,490 units, worth Rs 37,612,290 were traded via 558 transactions today.
Similarly, Nepal Bangladesh Bank (NBB) that has been trading actively with high turnover in the past few weeks following the news of International Finance Investment & Commerce Bank Ltd. (IFIC) buying the stake of NB group and Bank Asia Ltd., today also continued to retain the position of the highest turnover with astounding transaction figure of 117,683 share units worth Rs 41,294,502. In the prior week also the scrip had turnover worth more than Rs 120 million, earlier than that Rs 73 million; the news of NB group outing from the company has made it one of the attractive scrip in the market.
The broker with the highest business volume of NBB today was Broker no 32 (Premier Securities Company Limited) with 23.01% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 27,160 units worth Rs 9,504,515 via 33 transactions which includes 6 matching transactions totaling 2,550 worth Rs 897,330.
Apart from the mentioned above two scrips, Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), Global IME Bank Limited (Global IME), Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Nepal Credit And Commerce Bank (NCC) and Bank of Kathmandu (BOK) had turnover worth more than Rs 50 million. The total turnover in the today’s market was immensely higher than the prior trading day as it stood at Rs 168,972,639 which is higher by Rs 57,767,722 or 51.94%. Overall 636,679 units of shares were traded via 1,962 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs. 521,986.36 million at the end of the day.
In case of sub-indices Development and Others were only the gainers with 0.43 and 3.53 points respectively. The increment in the Others was mainly because of the jump in the price of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) by Rs 3. Whereas, the tumble in the value of Laxmi Bank Limited (LBL), Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB), Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBI) along with another 11 scrips dragged the Banking sector by 1.46 points.
Likewise, Hotels, Hydro, Finance, Insurance and Manufacturing plummeted by 9.75, 2.54, 0.56, 6.21 and 7.68 points respectively. The heavy decline in Hotels was because of the drop in price of Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) and Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) by Rs 3 and Rs 2. Similarly, descent in Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) by Rs 6 pushed the sector further south whereas the loss of Rs 198 in Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) contributed to its’ sector downfall.
Overall there were only 86 scrips traded among which 22 scrips increased 21 remained intact and 43 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Surya Life Insurance Company Limited (SLICL), closed at Rs 177, with Rs 11 or 6.63% gain. Whereas, Kakre Bihar Bikash Bank Ltd. (KKBL), closed at Rs 132, was the highest loser with Rs 12 or 8.33% loss.
