NEPSE PLUNGE 1.33 POINTS

After the gain of 2.37 points in the prior trading day, the market index today again went down. The local bourse after trading near the opening level for first 40 minutes, started to gradually decline in the latter phase as the selling pressure in the Banking scrips pushed the Nepse further south to the level of 518 levels. However, the increase in the level of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) in the closing minutes brought the benchmark index up to the today’s closing level of 520.71, limiting the loss to 1.33 points only.

With the fall in the Nepse, the market today observe less transactions than the previous days as there were altogether trade of 245,553 units of share via 926 transactions worth Rs 67,837,143 which is Rs 19,989,143 or  22.76% lower than prior trading day’s level; the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 505,560.54 million.

Similarly, the descent in the value of 19 scrips among the 26 traded banking scrips today dragged the Banking sector down by 2.14 points whereas the incline in the level of NTC also propel the Other sector by 2.35 points. As for other Banking and Financial Institutions sectors, Development came down by 1.02 points but Finance uplifted by 0.62 point today.

Likewise, Insurance sector surge by 1.52 points following the soar in the level of Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC) by Rs 17. Whereas, Hydro sector derailed by 9.92 points after the plunge in the level of Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 9, Rs 10 and Rs 17 respectively.

As for Manufacturing, it surge by 3.34 points, mainly contributed by the soar in Bottlers Nepal (Terai) Ltd. (BNT) by Rs 49 while, Hotels made a downhill of 1.13 points following the drop in the value of Taragaon Regency Hotel (TRH).

Overall there were trades of 86 scrips among which only 27 scrips increased 14 remained intact and 45 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Prabhu Finance Company Limited (PRFL), closed at Rs 156, with Rs 12 or 8.33% gain. Whereas the highest loser of the day was, Grand Bank Limited Promoter Share (GRANDP), closed at Rs 158, with Rs 17 or 9.71% loss. Among the ordinary shares, Kanchan Development Bank Ltd. (KADBL), closed at Rs 124, was the highest loser with Rs 13 or 9.49%.

In case of the highest shares traded and turnover, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 325, topped with 34,671 units worth Rs 11,314,419 via 81 transactions.; in which Broker no 45 (Imperial Securities Co .Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 31.58% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 11,000 units worth Rs 3,572,730 via 24 selling transactions.

With approval from NRB for the trading of promoter shares of the NB bank, the scrip has been one of the highly demand and traded security in the secondary market. As per the arrangement the foreign promoter IFIC Bank Ltd. will buy 2,767,500 shares of Bank Asia Limited, Dhaka, 1,451,200 shares of Manaslu Investment Private Limited and 1,462,792 shares of Capital Investment and Securities Private Limited.
