NEPSE OVERCOMES 4 PERCENT DECLINE; HIGHEST TURNOVER TILL DATE

Following back to back 5 percent circuit breaker in upward direction, the market today came to witness circuit breaker in opposite direction of 4 percent decline. However, coming to the end of the day, the market made a steep bounce back to limit its loss to 1.17 points only.

The rush of investors in initial period of the trade to capitalize the profit from the recent movement attributed to high level of selling pressure which caused the market for 15 minutes suspension from 12:24PM following 3 percent decline. Similarly, the market came to witness yet another circuit breaker for 4 percent decline from 12:49 PM for 30 minutes.

However, later the market observed staggering incline in demand causing the market to retrieve near to the opening level by the end of the day—the stock index closed at 805.65 levels.

In midst of V shaped transition, the secondary market of Nepal came to break yet another barrier, the market turnover today came to cross the threshold of Rs 800 million. According to the published data of NEPSE, the total market turnover today stood at astounding figure of Rs 806,823,344, totaling 1,740,415 shares units which were tradedthrough 3,631 transactions .Till date this is the highest turnover, excluding block trade, in the history of NEPSE.

Prior to today, the record for the highest single day transaction amount stood at Rs 746,007,855 which was set back in the month of July, 2011. Large transaction of Bottlers Nepal Ltd. (Balaju) worth Rs 725,109,705 mainly attributed to such enormous turnover back at that time

Contrary to previous scenario in which only one share attributed to mass turnover, today among the 104 traded scrips, near to 25 percent scrips i.e. 26  scrips had turnover over Rs 100 million which is the highest numbers of scrips crossing such threshold turnover amount in single trading day.

The scrips with the highest turnover in today’s trade was Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 658, with trading of 151,382 units worth Rs 97,287,183 via only 276 transactions.

The broker with the highest transaction of NBB was Broker No 35 (Kohinoor Investment and Securities Pvt.Ltd ) with 10.07 percent standalone dealing; totaling 31,043 share units worth Rs 19,600,172 which were traded through 37 buying transactions.

 As for the movement of the scrips, 48 scrips gained, 7 scrips remained intact and 49 scrips suffered loss.

The best performer among the traded scrips was International Leasing And Fin. Co. (ILFC), closed at Rs 231, with a gain of Rs 21 or 10 percent. Whereas the worst performer was Nepal Credit And Com. Bank  (NCCB), closed at Rs 441, with loss of Rs 34 or 7.16percent.

Among sub-indices, Banking today suffered loss of 4.73 points followed by Development and Hydro by 1.7 and 2.52 points.

Meanwhile, Finance continued to rose today as it added 6.26 points to its tally. Alongside Finance, Hotels and Insurance also made hefty gain of 32.24 and 28.71 points respectively.
